I liked this movie, but I didn't think it was anything to rave about. Worth watching, but I wouldn't buy it. Still way funny, though, so don't bite my head off.
I cry during a lot of movies but there's only one that had me sobbing for a half an hour after it ended: The Notebook. I went with my sisters and we were all crying hard wracking sobs by the end. Its such a beautiful movie.
The thing that touches me is Noah's unwavering commitment and love...
Don't worry, Michelleje, this is a great forum to get started on. I'm pretty new to the scene, too, but I've had a great time here on the boards. And I don't think loving the outdoors and books is all that contradictory...
Welcome FaerieGeek! This is a great forum - I've only been here about a week, but I'm havin tons of fun. Nancy Drew got me started really reading fiction in my middle school years - love it.
Have fun!
So I had no idea what ya'll were talking about - I'm picturing some scaled aqua monkey looking thing. But I googled it and now I am fully educated on sea monkeys. Very fun.
I just started a blog called Book 'n' a Mug. It took me forever to think of what to call it and I was so proud that I decided to use it here. My sister and I are going to do the blog together and we both love to read with a mug of hot chocolate. We also both write and usually a mug of hot...
I've been looking for great dragon books for a long time. I read Bertin's The Last Dragonlord just this last week and loved it. I'm now starting on Mercedes Lackey's Dragon Jousters series, but her dragons aren't as intelligent as I would like. I read Dragonworld by Byron Preiss and really...
I actually just posted a response in the General Discussions forum, but I had another thought as I read through the prompt again.
Innocence and purity are traits generally associated with children. They are also often portrayed as the characteristics needed to fight evil, etc.... something to...
I don't know if these are obscure or not - most of my friends haven't read them. I actually read both of these within the last week and loved them both.
Dragonworld by Byron Preiss - beautiful and simple. About two nations, a misunderstanding, and the dwindling race of dragons.
The Last...
All of these books are appropriate for a younger audience but entertaining for the older reader as well. I'm 24 and I still read the Chronicles of Narnia once a year. Not to mention that I'm really excited for the last Harry Potter book to come out this year.
I think it comes back to reaching...
Welcome Fernanda! This is a great place for people who love books and reading. Just look around and have fun!
I also love Austen and the Brontes, but I don't really know anyone else to recommend like them. I would suggest The Scarlet Pimpernel because that's one of my favorites and its sort...
My favorite classics are:
The Chronicles of Narnia
Pride and Prejudice
The Scarlet Pimpernel - for a while I was reading this a couple of times a year. Looks like its about time for me to pick it up again...
I loved reading the Dragonlance books - got me started on fantasy. I would recommend Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series if you liked Dragonlance. I am into dragons, so that's what I tend to recommend. I just finished a book called Dragonworld by Byron Preiss that I really enjoyed...
I absolutely adore The Scarlet Pimpernel! For a while there I was reading it every couple of months. Definitely read this one if you haven't already - fantastic!
My vote is for Le Guin - I absolutely love the Earthsea books. They're beautifully done and relatively short, so you'll probably get through it quickly. Definitely "A Wizard of Earthsea."
