    how long

Less than a week if I'm really into it. I'm glad to see that so many of us just gobble up a good book - nice to know I'm not the only one who gets totally drawn in when I read.

When you look for a new book . . .

This is an interesting question. When I'm looking for something new, I have to carefully consider what kind of mood I'm in. I like fantasy and action thrillers so it's usually a toss up between the two. Another factor is what I'm am writing at the time. When I was writing my fantasy novel, I...

Are you a member of any book club(s)?

I just joined a local book club through my church. We read Tuesdays with Morrie last month and we're reading Screwtape Letters for this month. It was so fun, even though we only had 4 people show up. But I got so excited I came home and called my sister to see if she wanted to do a book club...

From the land of jets and coffee...

Welcome! I love Seattle and the rainy weather would be the perfect romantic setting for me to write. It would also probably make me depressed... but it sure is beautiful up there. I bet those mountains are great.

    Bridge To Terabithia

I remember one of my friends told me to read this when I was younger but I never did. When I saw the previews for the movie I thought 'I should really read that...' Haven't yet, but after reading this thread I think I'll pick it up at the library. Will definitely see the movie.

    Christopher Paolini: Eldest

I really like both Eragon and Eldest although some people really hate them. I like anything that's entertaining and I like Paolini's return to some of the more traditional themes and characters. I must say, his villains and monsters are pretty horrible. Eldest was a great sequel and I'm...

Susanna Clarke: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

My favorite thing about this book is that the pages are all uneven... I generally liked this book, but I don't see myself reading it more than once. Its beautifully written and the characters are really well done, but I had to push myself to finish it. I didn't feel like there was a main...

    Cheesy movies

Singing in the Rain is just a classic - I don't care if its cheesy. I love Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, too. Wow, I haven't watched some of those in years... good times.

    Night At the Museum

I loved this movie. We went and saw it with the family for Christmas - perfect for the occasion. It was a really fun idea and I liked Ben Stiller in this one. I would definitely recommend this one.
