Oh Lord, What Is This Book Called?

I read this book a very long time ago. I don't remember that many details..but it was good and someone might be able to help me.

Ok, the book focuses on a teenage girl who is in a wheelchair and is in some sort of home for the disabled...she is paralyzed below the waist.

A boy soon comes into the home. He was a badass who was in a motorcycle accident if I remember correctly. I don't recall what exactly was wrong with him though.

Anyway he falls for the main girl...basically because she was the only other teenager there I think.

The only other details I remember were the other people in the home. They were all basically old. At one point they put on some sort of play.

There is a certain part where the boy is starting to get close to the girl and she is just praying she didn't pee. (Obviously she was paralyzed and she could only tell when she smelled herself.)

If someone could help me with this I'd love them forever. It's on of those long forgotten books from my past.

So this doesn't even ring the slightest bell with anyone?

Even if it sounds even a little familiar but you don't know the title, tell me. It would definitely be encouraging. At this point I'm convinced I'm the only one in the world who's read this particular book.

Maybe you dreamed you read this book... that's happened to me before. Sorry, but I haven't heard of anything like this. Don't give up hope, though!

I did not! Lol. I couldn't have. I really think I'm the only one in the world who has read this book.

I was going to say Falling Boy by Alison McGhee, but the plot is different. Sorry I couldn't help you out, and if it comes to me, I'll post.

Yea, definitely not. But we are getting slightly closer with the wheelchair bound paralyzed teens!

Rebound? No, that's not it either, but it is a pretty good pre-teen novel I read to my nephew a few years back.

Seriously, I think you dreamt it. :D

It was a book I pulled of the YA shelf at random. I always could go and read the synopsis of every YA book of every lirbrary I might've gone to.

(Repost) Still no luck. Does anyone recognize this book?

Now thinking about it...I think I read this book...i remember he part about her not wanting to pee or W'ever..lol how long ago did you read this book?

Awww unfortunately that's not it.

The girl was not on vacation with her family...she was in a home or facility where her family left her (not maliciously.)

She also wasn't hurt by a motorcycle accident...the boy was.

No grandma or crazy actress either. Although the book did include a colorful group of people some old some younger who also lived at the facility.

Thanks for trying though. I really appreciate it. Ah...this is clearly a no name book I read. It was pretty good though.

Sorry, dont know it. but if you like it you might like CRAZY by Genjamin Lebert (I think). Originally in German... but a true story and great stuff.... heart-warming.

A Millionth Attempt at Finding This Teen Novel

I'm sorry for those of you who've read my past attempts to find this book, but I'm trying again. I've searched everywhere for years in order to find out the title of this book. Many have suggested I dreamed it, but tis not so. No one has been able to help me out so far so my guess is that this book is very unknown.

Okay so the book is in first person. The narrator is a teenage girl. This girl is living in a hospice home of some sort for the pyhsically disabled. Young and old both live there. (Though from what I recall the hospital is mostly dominated by older folks) The narrator is wheelchair bound and paralyzed below the waist.

One day an attractive bad boy type, about the narrator's age, comes to the hospice. He was in an accident of some sort. I believe it was a motorcycle accident. I don't remeber what exactly was wrong with him though. He may have been wheelchair bound too.

Anyway, he starts romantically persuing the narrator. I believe she once notes that it was probably because she was the only one there. One specific part of the novel that sticks out in my mind is the narrator saying that she only knew if she had urinated by smelling herself (since she's numb below the waist), and later on in the book when her and the boy were getting close she was praying that she hadn't peed.

That's pretty much all of what I'm almost certain of as far as the book's plot goes. I think at one point in the story the residents of the hospice put on some sort of play or skit, but I'm not sure. I have no idea how it ended.

I read this book about 4 - 6 years ago. I'd be very interested in finding it again. It had such a unique plot and I remember enjoying it at the time.

If you can't help me with the title yourself, can you tell me how I can find this book? I've done every sort of internet search imaginable.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. :)
