Went on a little spree yesterday, and got the following for under $50 (Australian):
The Neverending Story II - the first was too expensive
Zoolander
Silent Hill
Stripes - Extended Cut
28 Days Later
Big Trouble In Little China - commentary featuring Kurt Russell! Huzzah! (I haven;t actually...
What made it tick for me, as with most of King's better works, is the history that he creates for the hotel. I love being drawn into a place so that you experience not only the story of the characters in the novel, but also of those there long before.
I didn't experience any 'terror' as such...
Vesper, I'm not sure which IQ tests you have taken, but most professional tests have been shown to be extremely reliable (validity i another matter).
Please, please, please, pleae, please everyone put no stock whatsoever in the results that an online IQ test spits out (I aume you're all savvy...
I have no plans as such as summer is seven months away down here, and I can barely plan my time a week in advance. I usually spend it complaining about the heat/ at the beach/ sitting under the fan.
This winter I will be complaining about the cold/ at the pub/ sitting next to the heater.
Yes, I can tell.
Do you mean those pencils that you click on the end to produce more lead? Because I was always a smart-arse with those and would click click click click click click click then put it on the page and SNAP.
Wooden for me, but they do taste funny and tend to leave splinters in...
Why do you only have to read one? Try to get through more, if possible. I've only read Watership Down and Gatsby. I liked WD, but could not find much in Gatsby to love.
No watch for me at the moment; I wore it in the pool on Australia Day (water 'resistant' does not extend to three hours submerged, I found out).
It was an analog, however, and am on the lookout for a funky new one.
Apologies dominicgaj. I try to respond to a few welcome posts, but we seem to have had an influx of new members as of late, so it becomes hard to spot them all. Please don't feel unwelcome!!
I'm excited to have another Victorian on the board!
To be honest, I've lost interest in the whole thing. The next book I mean, not the Potterverse in general. The wait has been far too long, especially as the bulk of the readers of the last book are (I assume) older adolescents who have simply hung around to 'see what happens' (Put me in that...
Jung is a fascinating theorist. I would love to read more of his work, as I've only looked at his writings from a psych major perspective, particularly as it applies to personality and counselling.
I'm attracted to his idea of the collective and personal unconscious as opposed to what is seen...
Heya Catalyst!
Welcome! You'll have lots of fun here. What are some of your favourite books/authors?
PS We have another Catalyst here, apologies if I confuse you with her at some point...my brain refuses to co-operate some days :o
Um, yeah...what he ^ said.
You'll all be pleased to know that Sparknotes has apparently not heard of Deception Point.
Phew.
EDIT: But everyone's favourite masterpiece is there....
Do you think they make Cruise stand at the back of the room for this reason?
"No, Tom, you lost your greeter privileges when you pulled that ridiculous couch stunt. Go and warm up the psychiatrist-seeking missiles"
