    Reading Music

There are a few books out there now that have their own soundtracks. Frank Beddor's "The Looking Glass Wars" series has a soundtrack. The second book of Catherynne M. Valente's "Orphan's Tales" series also has a CD with songs inspired by the stories/characters. Part of me wonders if...

    Uncorrected Proof Question

The book looks like a trade paperback version of the hardcover. (The hardcover is a smaller size.) Has the same exact artwork and page numbers. Even the back as the right up's that you would normally see. The only difference on the covers is the label on the front saying "Uncorrected Proof"...

    Uncorrected Proof Question

I am a member of BookMooch and got a copy of "The Cleft" by Doris Lessing. However, it's an uncorrected proof. I am sure it differs from author to author, and even further from publisher to publisher, but what kind of things can I expect? Is there a possibility that the structure of the story...

    Jonathan Carroll

Again, could someone please help me?

    Jonathan Carroll

*BUMP* Can anyone help me with this question?

    Jonathan Carroll

OK. So let's bring an old dead thread back to life. (I am going to try, at least.) I have heard much about Mr. Carroll, and have read many of the plots to his books. They have intrigued me, obviously. However, according to Wikipedia, some of the books that I am interested in reading are...

    Have you read these books?

I have only read the two books you listed by Gaiman, and would recommend both. "Stardust" especially. It is a great adult-like fantasy novel.

    Your all-time favorite book

I'll second that! "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman is a really close second to it for me though.

    Book Advice

"Jennifer Government" by Max Barry is a great satire on big business and government. "The Great American Novel" by Philip Roth is a great satire too, but you gotta like baseball.

    Japan Trilogy...Fantasy?

    You're welcome Ms. Frodo. :D

    Japan Trilogy...Fantasy?

Sounds like it would be the "Tales of the Otori" by Lian Hearn. The fourth book of the series was recently released.

    Where to Trade SciFi Paperbacks?

BookMooch.Com is another good trading site. (Though like the others listed does not specialize in Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but any book.)

    star wars books?

"Shatterpoint" by Matthew Woodring Stover is also very good. It takes place during the Clone Wars and as far as Star Wars novels goes can stand alone. It follows Mace Windu as he tries to find one of his former students that has gone astray. "I, Jedi" by Michael A. Stackpole is also pretty...

Yet Another Member Searching for a Book

Unlike most others, I have not read the book I am searching for. I saw it on Amazon about a year ago as a new release. I put it on my wish list, then took it off. Now I forget the title or author's name. I do remember a couple of things that I am hoping will spark someone's knowledge here...

    Can someone help?

"The Liveship Traders" trilogy by Robin Hobb might be another to consider.

How possessive are you about your books?

I am the same way. Though actually there is only one person, my brother-in-law, that I will lend books to. I am fanatical about my books. If I bought the book brand new, you can bet it all that even after I read it, it will look brand new. My brother-in-law is the same way, hence why I would...

    Looking for an enjoyable fantasy...

Three words for you ... Guy Gavriel Kay. He is a fantastic author. "The Lions of Al-Rassan", "A Song for Arbonne", and "Tigana" are all great books. (And notice how I left the word "fantasy" out of that?) All three are considered fantasy, but probably can stand outside the genre. I...

Mitch Albom: For One More Day

Be forewarned, he is a sports columnist. He is a very good writer though; entertaining when he needs to be, serious when it's called for, etc. However, his Sunday column usually deals with other items in the news or things on his mind. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=COL01

Mitch Albom: For One More Day

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard about it yet. I have always enjoyed Albom's writing, whether book or his newspaper column.
