    Hard.

The Summons by John Grisham. it was my first Grisham and it left me with a really bad impression of the author. The Songs of Distant Earth by Arthur C Clarke. ditto for that

    Entertaining Mister Decker

umm.. no insinuations....and i know that the world is a small place... but i read a very similar short story a while back.It was in one of those Hitchkock compiled books. But it was from the point of view of the young man and the pet was dead in that one.

    Life on the Lilies

this is nowhere near your best???well then please show me your best!! your secondbest is good enough to raise applause! this was a refreshing story to read. the innuendos were apt, symbolism wellmanaged and theme, striking but disturbing

It's all a matter of perspective

i like first person better though it all depends on how the story is presented. The story is exposed from a particular point of view in first person. that view maybe be wrong in some cases or against our own which makes it quite dynamic, to read. In third person, the story becomes...

First of all , i thank you wholeheartedly for reviewing my review :) i see this article in a totally different light, the way you have put it. i regret for the delay in posting this. There is no question of being offended. Difference of opinion is a part of discussion. my main purpose for...

How many authors have you read?

i ,having a very analytical mind, have kept a list of all authors whose books i have read. my current count is 34 with 20 in my waiting list. my target is 100 authors in my lifetime. i think this must be a pretty low number so i am asking you how many authors have you read? i know...

Review: Defence for Harry Potter against escapism

here is something else that i had wanted to say. this has NOTHING to do with classics , escapism , popularity and Britney Vids :) i am differentiating between POPULARITY and CRITICAL ACCLAIM. it has been mentioned in this thread that there would be some 'for' opinions ,and some 'against' ones...

    Pete

very nice portrayal of pete. the scene was totally different from colin's. it wasnt that much into detail as colin's though. my favourite part:- "He was never a delinquent, his only crime being an attempt to grow up. Along the way, he had puffed a mountain of dope from our bedroom window...

Review: Defence for Harry Potter against escapism

i agree. but i had never said that being popular makes something a classic. i had illustrated HP's popularity and being a classic in totally different contexts. now here's a deal. we will meet here, same place, same time after twenty years, and if HP has withstood the test of time, then i win...

Review: Defence for Harry Potter against escapism

whoa whoa whoa! outnumbered 4 :1 was the last thing i had expected! * looks around for some Rowling supporters , fails * * hesitantly plunges deep into this thread * to Murph you mentioned that the themes of HP were all done before. i never refuted that. this theme is in no way...

Review: Defence for Harry Potter against escapism

this is an article that i have written in favour of Harry Potter books against the claim by many people (who i believe havent read the books) that they are escapist i would like some constructive opinions: It is a truth now universally acknowledged that the Harry Potter books...

    Poem: Common Epitaph

very good work tugger it was eerie and a bit emotional. what i interpreted it to be was two souls deceiving each other. of course i might be completely wrong can you explain why the word arrangement was such?and also what the S's had to do?

    Colin

TMG i dont claim to be a book critic. however ,using the limited book knowledge that i have , i can clearly state without any bias that this was absolutely awesome. with such a short excerpt, you have made the personalities of colin, jay , richard and mingmei crystal clear to the me. i...
