How Many books in a year?

It used to be 230 books a year, but now I think it's about 140. The books I read are now longer, plus I don't have as much time anymore. I'll read between 8 -14 books a month, I guess.

Anyone ever read two books at once?

I'll read several books at once... eg - one at home, one in my bag for when I'm travelling, one I'm reading during lunch at the library but can't borrow b/c I owe the library money (library fines) and then I'll see a book a desperately want to read and start reading that...

Aarrgghh!! Part of my book is MISSING!!

I don't think so, because otherwise rubbish bin security would be tightened. What a pity... however, people do collect strange things, and it's a strange world, so I wouldn't give up hope.

    A town called Alice

I haven't read it, because I can't find it! but my dad listened to the audio book and he really liked it.

Books with photos of the author

I have been put off books by the authors. The author in the inside cover of my book for Literature looks really... scary. Why would you willingly want to put a bad black-and-white picture of yourself on your book. And the author on the back of "Sabrina Fludde" (which i read years ago) nearly...

Aarrgghh!! Part of my book is MISSING!!

How infuriating! I've had pages missing in library books, or, worse, stuck together with chewing gum. That's bad enough, and I didn't pay for the book! I've never bought a book like that, but I have a... ah ... few books that are defective in the collection. My dad works with printing preses...

    Agatha Christie

I have the copy we found in the coat cupboard behind the iron that had belonged to some relative, and it's Ten Little Niggers. I must unearth it again, then. The copy at the library is "And then there were none." So much more politically correct... :p

How many books have you read in 2005?

    57. So that's half a book a day, on average. (But I generally read a book in a couple of hours)

What do you use as a bookmark?

I've never used bookmarks. I've never seen the need for bookmarks. I employ the method of simply shutting the book. Often I also glance at the page number. (I don't memorise them...) I'm almost always able to open the book at the right place, or find my place again. I've been doing it since I...

    The Seven Plots

My friend regularly refers to the seven original plots - especially in the cinema while watching movie previews! It's nice to finally know what they are!

    Writing software

I love that! - especially the bit at the end! What are writing softwares exactly supposed to do? It sounds like fun, whatever it is. However, I have the horrible suspision that I'd just use it to procrastinate from doing what I'm meant to be doing, and I've already got the internet - I don't...

Music while you are reading or writing. Life's Theme Song?

I listen to music while I work. I actually work better and find it really had to concentrate without music. But I can't listen to anything that has English words, because I can't tune out to them. The biggest distraction about listening to music is that I have to stop and skip track to something...

A question for the writers amongst us...

Mainly I write for myself. Ultimately it is for me. But I write fiction, I write with an audience in mind, even if it's just my little sister, or my English teacher (who'll return it with comments like "good, but..." or just admit that they can't understand it. *shakes head*) or sometimes...

    I just finished reading...

I just read Storm Catchers by Tim Bowler. I was.. I don't know really. I only read it because it was an excuse not to have to get out of bed.

    L.M. Montgomery

I've read all the Anne books, and the Emily books and a few others. I think the Blue Castle is my favourite (I believe this was the book and I sat down and read it three times in one go!) I like Emily much better than Anne, too. Anne could be infuriating at times...

    Judy Blume

I've read a couple - the only one that sticks in my mind was Tiger Eyes. I liked that.

    Meg Cabot

I tend to not admit to reading the Princess Diaries, but - I've read them all. They're not the sort of thing I normally read, but everyone needs light reading now and again. I read All American-Girl while waiting when I was doing photocopying on work experience...

    C.S. Lewis

I loved Narnia! (correction, I love Narnia!!!!) The only other one I've read by C.S.Lewis is Perelandra. I must reread it because it went mostly in one ear and out the other. I started reading That Hideous Strength at a friend's place, but when I asked to borrow it, they couldn't find it! and I...

    Agatha Christie

Murder at the Vicarage is my favourite, too, - it's the first one I read. I didn't like murder of roger acroyd particularly, but it was good. I think I disliked it because I'd just read Endless Night (which I'll be honest about and say I hated it) and as they are similar in the whodunit, I think...

    Worst/Most Overrated books

My friend forced me to read Bored of the Rings... it was amusing, but I thought after awhile they sort of ... lost the plot. So as a piece of humour, I'd say it was overrated... I think the Lovely Bones is overrated. (we're studying it at the moment). I think it's good (and it does grow on...
