I had to read carefully, last time someone mentioned football at TBF they were talking about what we Americans call Soccer  BLASPHEMY!!!
But, yes! I am cuckoo-for-cocoa puffs PSYCHED about the Football season starting!
GO EAGLES :D
I'm currently reading book 4 of Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of Seven Suns. Book 1 is titled Hidden Empire.
Of course I would also highly recommend Dune by Frank Herbert if you've never read it.
I've read 3 books by him, 2 which were very good and one which was average. I recommend Legend (aka Against the Horde) and The King Beyond the Gate which are the first 2 books of the Drenai saga. They are basically manly man action/adventure fantasy!!!
All excellent suggestions. I would add The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind, The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks, Legend by David Gemmell, Wit'ch Fire by James Clemens and The Runelords: The Sum of All Men by David Farland. These are all great jumping...

1 - A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. This is the gold standard for Fantasy (with war aplenty)
2 - Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson
3- Prince of Nothing series by R. Scott Bakker
4- Darkness series by Harry Turtledove
I've got to go with Lord of Chaos when the A'Shaman rescue Rand al'Thor from his imprisonment at the hands of the rogue Aes Sedai and then proceed to open a mega can of tainted Saidin whoop-ass
In my family, I'm the one who's most frequently mistaken for a simian beast, fortunately though, my wife hasn't (yet) attempted to pop a cap in my ass.
I am currently reading The Loch by Steve Alten, a novel about (you guessed it) The Loch Ness Monster. It also contains quite a bit of Scottish history, including some William Wallace lore. I've read almost all of Steve's books, I liked the Meg books (giant, prehistoric sharks on a feeding...
