For a long time now I've been trying to find the title/author of this book I read a while ago (8 or 10 years ago). I've been trying to track it down but am having no luck and thought I would try to post here.
The main character of the book, from what I can remember, is a girl, who is brought up by an older woman. The older woman may or may not be related to the girl; for some reason I have it in my head that she's an orphan who was taken in by this older woman but I honestly don't know for sure. The older woman deals a lot with herbs, and healing with them, and is teaching the younger one about how to use them. I think that the two characters were kind of outcasts from the local villages because they used "herb magic" but I'm not positive about this. I'm quite sure the story takes place a long time ago (think misty celtic moors), probably in a fictional world. I vaguely remember this being part of a series, maybe a trilogy? It's definitely a fantasy novel, and it would have been written for young teens.
