Any of the Bathroom Reader series I find to be perfect. I've given these many times and they're always a huge hit (of course, I work with teachers who like to read).
That's me bird-watching. The only other pic of me on the internet is that of me fishing...also a side profile. My knee is featured in a picture of one of my cats...
My husband has never had to yell, but there have been many times he has been talking to me while I was reading and I did not hear him. I also have the bad habit of trying to read while he's talking to me - say he interrupts my reading to talk about something and I kind of try to read out the...
Did have a subscription to Science News, but let it expire, because I didn't have time to read it each week.
Now I read magazines passed to me by my grandma:
Country
Country Woman
Birds & Blooms
Birds & Blooms extra
Reader's Digest
I would love to find a good magazine about books, but have...
I like your mask, but the other is kind of frightening.
My mom accidentally scared kids when she dressed up as a kangaroo to hand out candy. I agree you might be scarring some children for life
Good luck with your surgery - I am glad they did the tests to ensure you stay as safe as possible, but I know you are ready for it, as well. No matter the reason for the extra weight- I hope you lose it quickly and healthily. Best of lu0-cuuuy (that was from my kitten) luck to you!
Are you surprised by The Gathering winning the Booker Prize? I've yet to see any good reviews of it - most are like yours.
It might be a prize winner, but I think I'll pass on this one.
I think it's natural that people judge others...be it by what they read, how they look, etc. It does seem, though, that one can be grossly misjudged by someone who looks at one book they are reading. I know that I myself read a great variety of books, as do many readers.
I do have to say...
I have trouble reading with the tv on or music playing - but I can read on the bus, in waiting rooms, while making sure my students are reading (during silent reading time) and walking around the room....but my favorite is to read in my round chair with one or all three of our cats with me and...
I've bought from a few - again, those with 99% and 100% feedback (and a lot of feedback at that rating) and have had good luck. It really depends on which seller you buy from as to your experience.
The one that sticks out in my mind is The Awakening - I understand why it was written and the point, I guess what bothered me was the lack of depth in the characters (though this helped make the book short, so I guess I can't complain too much). The main character never earned my sympathy or...
Bought several YA fantasy novels - school bookfair on. I enjoy reading these books, because they often have interesting storylines, and I'm a teacher and like to keep up with what my kids are interested in. Also finally got Agatha Christi's And then there were None. Interesting book - I...
I do reread books on occasion - I have those books that are like comfort food...especially Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider series (especially the older books)...I usually reread one or two per year in the autumn. I've reread others, but like you, I'm saving most of those I want to reread for old...
I did read my husband's favorite book (Dune) and had a good time discussing it with him. He never got around to reading one of my favorites. Oh well. He hasn't even read HP! He looked at me as if I was insane when I was crying at the end of 6.
My dad and I discuss books often. We both...
