    Cancelled TV Shows

My two worst were when Angel was cancelled, and then Firefly. I'm a Whedon fan, what can I say?

Stormspirit - I voted and have commented.

Usernames!!!! How did you get yours?

The Manda bit comes from my name Amanda - it was shortened by someone I used to be very fond of, so that stuck. When I was choosing a nick for a warhammer forum, I asked the same person what I should call myself and he stuck a Mage on the front. Hence Magemanda

July Discussion -The Diamond Throne by Eddings

I don't like the thought that some people will not pick up Eddings at all based on what a few people they don't know have said on an internet forum. It smacks of not being able to read a book yourself and make up your own opinion.

July Discussion -The Diamond Throne by Eddings

Actually, I don't think it's an age thing, because I'm 25 and still love Eddings. I find it perfect escapism. The writing isn't perfect; he doesn't break the mould of fantasy; no one can ever accuse him of producing classics of the genre. But I find his characters entertaining. I like the...

    Long Distance

I've had a couple of long distance relationships. As a fairly paranoid and untrusting person, it was my attitude that eventually caused the death of them. If you're gonna have them, you have to trust, definitely.

Split the Science Fiction / Fantasy genre

I think separately the forums would be ghost-town-like. As it is, it can be quite busy at times.

    July Reading - Fantasy/Science Fiction

Unfortunately, Mr Sell Sword, I have limited access to US books (do not want to pay HUUUGE shipping bills!) I am currently wanting: Dead as a Doornail - Charlaine Harris Undead and Unappreciated - Mary Janice Davidson And now busily adding Every Which Way But Dead to that list :)

    July Reading - Fantasy/Science Fiction

My July reading will consist of Kim Harrison's two books: Dead Witch Walking and The Good, The Bad and The Undead. I am then going to embark on a re-read of Janny Wurts' magnus opus starting with the Curse of the Mistwraith since I have the latest two books (Peril's Gate and Traitor's Knot, I...

    Moorcock Recommendations

I advise against reading any Moorcock, but that's because I can't stand his writing. Boring as sin.....

    1st or 3rd?

Hi, time for me to be brave again. I have started this particular story twice now, to see how it felt from 1st and 3rd person perspective. If anyone has any comments about the beginnings themselves - first impressions, grammar chat etc, I'd love to hear them. I'd also like to get a preference as...

Final Vote for Sci-fi/Fantasy July Book Discussion

Now that's neat :) . Always nice to see an established author interacting with the fans.... Over on Kelley Armstrong's site, they have an established monthly bookclub and they always try to get the author to attend in order to answer questions and receive feedback. Seems to have worked in...

What's the longest you've ever read with little interuption?

I've read literally from dawn til dusk. I can read for hours with no interruptions or desire to do anything else. Of course, I don't do it very often cos of the other demands on my time! As a conservative guess, I'd say the longest I've read is about 13 hours (with a break for food).

A girl that used swards and magic… Title? Author?

Oh, I know and love this series..... You're talking about the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce. She has written several quartets now, but the first quartet is the one you're interested in. It's made up of: Alanna:the First Adventure In the Hand of the Goddess The Woman who Rides like a Man...

Who do you Marry & how do you know they are the one?

You seem to be very emotional about this Carlos, and seem to see people who marry as deluded fools. Now you are completely entitled to your opinion, but I think it would be slightly nicer if you toned down the derogatory element of your post. The thing about love and marriage is it is completely...

    one thing

I don't particularly want to buy a house outright even! Right now I'm desperate enough that just to be given the deposit money to put down would be a supreme gift. Saving is hard :(

Who do you Marry & how do you know they are the one?

Just picking up something that Kook mentioned earlier regarding blushing brides... I would rather have a small and intimate wedding than a huge sprawling bridezilla affair. For me, the wedding is not an end in itself, it's a means to an end. I would rather spend a whole heap of money on a...
