    People's characteristitics

Usually I am not a stickler, but some months back Danish Television showed the Inspector Lynley series (TV adaption of Elizabeth George's crime novels - which I love dearly). I bothered me quite a bit, that in stead of being tall, blond, brown eyed, extremely - almost classical - handsome...

Oh Gee, I don't think I can remember. Somehow I think that he was "transported" into another world - the alien world. But please correct me if I am wrong. It's been ages....

Within the last week or so, I have bought 4 books (including one I have ordered, but not gotten yet). 1. Leif Davidsen: Dostojevskijs sidste rejse (The last journey of Dostojevskij). A Danish Foreign reporter and authors travels in Russia on an old river boat - named Dostojevskij. 2. The...

    And the winner is ...

Me too!!! If there is any justice left in this world, I think Peter Jackson should get one for the whole trilogy, if not for The Return of the King. I saw it for the second time, the other day. Even better the second time.... Hobitten :)

Book Crossing - Recycling books 'into the wild'

It was Bookcrossing that led me to The Book Forum, funny enough. It's a great idea - and a great site. :) I do find it difficult, however, to part with any of my books.:( Maybe I'd start buying second copies. Hobitten:rolleyes:

    the hours

I saw the book early summer last year. read the Mrs. Dalloway during my summer holls. Took a bit of getting into, but once I was there I was hooked. I loved it! "A long stream of consciousness..." Indeed it is! Hobitten

    Scariest Book Ever?

Insomnia by Stephen King. I read it several years back, and every time I can't sleep at night, I think of it. Maybe some alien is slowly taking over my mind.... Last time that happened was last night. Woke up at 2.30 am for no reason at all. It took me a long time to fall asleep...

    Helen Fielding: Bridget Jones's Diary

I thoroughly enjoyed both the book(s) and the film. I did find it somewhat disturbing that - mostly in the film - Bridget was portrayed as a slightly ignorant, shallow and uninformed young woman. She doesn't deserve that. And it makes it a little bit hard to understand what Mark Darcy sees in...

    Classic Books

I am an avid reader of classic novels, which (for the English languaged part) I first discovered about five years ago. Not that I did not know of the authors, but I had not read them. It was not an integrated part of the curriculum in a Danish school girls life. We had our own. I am...

Lord of the Rings: Favorite edition?

Do you know, that there was a special edition and translation of The Lord of the Rings in Denmark in 1977, which was illustrated by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark? She did it under the pseudonym of Ingahil Grathmer. I, myself, have an English version, paperback, Harper Collins. Not very...

What do you use as a bookmark?

I would never ever-ever-ever fold corners. It's almost sacrilege!!!  I learned this from a very early age. Our neighbour across the street (when I was a kid) was a teacher, librarian and book lover. He taught me the ethics of reading. I usually use old train tickets. I...

J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

I finished the book this morning. I concur with Third man girl. Holden kind of grew on me. He is just a lonely kid, who has lost his brother and lost his way. Hobitten

J.D. Salinger: The Catcher In The Rye

I am reading The Catcher in the Rye (J.D.Sallinger) at the moment. I have not finished it yet, but I am well underway. Being Danish this book is not exactly included in the mandatory reads of my youth (and life). I came across it a few years back, have to. I do not have much in common with a...
