I think nerdy looking kids just get made fun of in general. I read all the time and I've never been made fun of for it, but I'm not a nerdy looking kid so that's why. It's a tough world, if you look funny people will tear you up.
Forrest Gump by Winston Groom. It was pretty decent, I definitely laughed out loud a few times. Lots of words are misspelled, so grammar nazis might not like this, but it's pretty good if you enjoy the movie ( but I must say it is drastically different than the movie in some aspects).
Why is it better? I don't really know. Because after I finished reading it I felt that it was better? My sentiments told me that it was better. I don't really know what you want, I can't read the book for you.
The story line is clever and new. It definitely brings a new twist to young adult...
Do whatever makes you happy, push-pin is as good as poetry. If reading all day makes you happy, why feel guilty about it? People are morons anyways, they aren't that fun to socialize with.
48 laws of power, I read it awhile ago, and it's just now started to be pushed into the general public by rappers like 50 cent and such. It's a pretty good book and it uses lots of historical stories to make it more interesting. You get to see what laws of power famous people used

Where the red fern grows- saddest book I've ever read, but good.
Artemis fowl- good book for young people

You sound like you are reading this material for the wrong reasons, viz., to spout bullshit at the coffee shop so you come off as smart, instead of for the pleasure of reading the material.
Kant's groundwork, Aristotle's metaphysics, Environmental Ethics ' What really matters', Carribean politics, American Political Thought
School makes me read too much
All semester I read dense philosophical arguments and political science books. And while I enjoy reading philosophy and poli sci material, it is summer I can finally relax and read for fun. I am reading the Golden Compass trilogy right now.
What's wrong with reading Harry Potter or Twilight? I've read them both and I don't see anything wrong in that.
p.s
I am almost done with my junior year at the university and I'm a philosophy major and a poli science minor ( lots of reading).
