I loved Goosebumps too!! I used to go to the public library and check out all the ones I hadn't read. I think he was only up to 30+ books when I was into them and I read them all. They were amazing!
For what it's worth, I couldn't tell you a single bit about any of the books right now, but i...
I always felt like the whole series was an accident. It just seemed like he wrote WFR as a standalone book and then when he had major success, he had to capitalize on it and made up another villain and another war to fight. It really annoyed me because the first book ended so well. Anyway...
This.
Push through to the second book of the Wheel of Time and you'll be hooked.
Also, I COMPLETELY disagree with the people that said the books fell off in quality after 4 or 5.... or at least, not as substantially as they claim. It's just my opinion, but I think they're reacting to the fact...
Thumbs down for the Sword of Truth. I liked the first few books of it, but then they were just a subterfuge to get me sucked in so I had to read the rest of that completely ripped-off (from Robert Jordan) and completely awful series. Besides, it's really not that graphic.
If graphic is...
The guy that read most of the Dark Tower series was Frank Muller... someone mentioned him near the beginning of this thread. He was DEFINITELY one of the best readers out there (if not THE best). I say was, because he can't read anymore. After Wizard and Glass (Dark Tower #4) he was in a...
Did you just randomly come up with that number? I doubt VERY seriously that even if RJ had tried, he (or anyone for that matter) could've gotten the series to 3 books. He would've been struggling and would've had to cut out MAJOR stories to get it down to just 7.
Anyway, I like them all...
Honestly, it doesn't bother me at all. If we were on RJ's timeline, we probably wouldn't have any of the books (or the last one if he kept it to only one book) until like 2 or 3 years from now. He always took so long in between books. Having three books out with only a year in between is so...
I think I agree with Hawked now. The original list was not meant to be helpful IMO. The only thing I would change is that I don't think that "sometimes (very rarely, though) a story just calls for a genre cliche". I think, to word it differently and give it a slightly different spin, that a...
It's a trilogy, so thankfully it's done. I'm only halfway through the last book, so I can't attest to the entirety of the book (including it's ending) but what I've read so far has been very well done and has kept me interested.
I'm on the third book of the "Mistborn" trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I'd recommend it for any fantasy lover. It's a GREAT series. I just wanted to check it out since Sanderson is the guy who is finishing the Wheel of Time series. Let's just say, after reading his books, I'm VERY excited for...
The hobbit is a children's book. I doubt it would be a tough read for anyone who has read the halo novels.... or anyone over the age of 13 for that matter.
But, Ender's game is also a good choice.
So, Ender's game or the hobbit. Pick either and you'll be happy you did.
There are a few of these, aside from the couple that I mentioned earlier, that are a little ridiculous. Specifically, these:
2. Is your main character a young farmhand with mysterious parentage?
3. Is your main character the heir to the throne but doesn't know it?
4. Is your story about a...
Well, according to wikipedia, "Over the river and through the woods..." was a poem that was originally found in this book: Flowers for Children, volume 2. I'm not sure if that's the book you're looking for, but it's a good place to start. I searched amazon (not very thoroughly) for the book...
I think Terry Goodkind is terrible and he's a thief. If you've already read "The Wheel of Time" you'd recognize a lot of the elements in Goodkind's books after the first few. He stole a lot from RJ.
You could try The Belgariad by David Eddings.
or The Symphony of Ages by Elizabeth Haydon...
