Tonight's my last night on the forums. I'm leaving for a long time, but just so you know it's not because I don't love you guys. See you in two years.:)
My christmas tree won't burn!
We just took down our christmas decorations and as celebration we decided to burn the tree. We took it out into the driveway and propped it up with boards then I tried to light it with matches. I figured it would be easy because the needles were dry and falling...
I have learned that the only bookmark worthy of my time, the only one I have not lost after one use, the only one that does not fall out every time I pick up the book is...my name badge from Wal-Mart. I used to not even bother with bookmarks because they lost my place more times than they...
I don't have that problem much even though my whole family is readers. The only problem is when my dad takes my books to work. He works about three hundred miles away and stays there thw whole week. So when he "borrows" my books it really cuts into my reading time.
It depends on how much I want to read that particular day. In my job I stay in a locked room and nobody checks up on me so if I want to I can get in a good nine hours so long as I don't fall behind, which isn't hard to do in the slow season. I know, I'm a bad person.:(
Speaking from experience I would have to say the most important part of the library would be selection. Not even screaming kids are as bad as having no books you want to read.
Has anyone read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. It is the only book at the store that is catching my eye right now, but it is a big and quite expensive book. Would anyone reccomend it?
I actually loved Eragon. It throws back to the classic fantasy I loved so much as a kid. Now you see so many people trying to take classic fantasy elements and make them their own and they usually end up with mediocre stories. I like the stories that are either classic fantasy or something...
Who else loves this fine author? Never mind that he wrote children's books, his work is still some of the most imaginative I have ever read. He is the reason I got into scifi and fantasy.
I just feel that some of the words are unnessecary. Let me show you. Sorry if you feel I'm nitpicking. I'm like that:o , though I hope not as bad as stewart.
I don't really like to write conversation either, it's hard.:o I do like what I read here but there are some unnessecary words (I marked them in bold) that I think ruin the flow of the piece. Also there a some part that could use some rewording (italics)
I don't know about your ants but mine are definitly the spawn of evil. They are big fat red ants that destroy all vegetation within twenty feet of the hill, and in Utah we have little enough vegetation to spare. They also have a really painful sting.
