So, what did folks listen to in 2006? Here's my year-end best-of in under 80 minutes:
  1. Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins – Rise Up With Fists!!! (from 'Rabbit Fur Coat', Team Love)
    Agnostic gospel.
  2. Sonic Youth – Incinerate (from 'Rather Ripped', Geffen)
    Slow-burning disaster.
  3. Cat Power – Lived In Bars (from 'The Greatest', Matador)
    Smooth breakdown.
  4. Flaming Lips – Pompeii am Götterdämmerung (from 'At War With the Mystics', Warner)
    Pink Floyd on Mars.
  5. TV On The Radio – Wolf Like Me (from 'Return to Cookie Mountain', 4AD)
    Neither rock'n'roll as well as hi-tech.
  6. The Knife – The Captain (from 'Silent Shout', Rabid)
    Music that hates you.
  7. Mountain Goats – Woke Up New (from 'Get Lonely', 4AD)
    Mourning coffee.
  8. Tom Waits – Road to Peace (from 'Orphans', Anti-)
    Thoughtful politics.
  9. Hamell On Trial – Coulter's Snatch (from 'Songs For Parents Who Enjoy Drugs', Righteous Babe Records)
    Angry politics.

    Punk sex.

    Warm rain.
  12. I'm From Barcelona – Treehouse (from 'Let Me Introduce My Friends', Dolores)
    Childish nonsense.
  13. Yo La Tengo – The Story Of Yo La Tango (from 'I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass', Matador)
    Childish sense.
  14. Regina Spektor – Après Moi (from 'Begin to Hope', Sire)
    Musical ark.
  15. Bob Dylan – Ain't Talkin' (from 'Modern Times', Columbia)
    Give up or get up.
 
Am slowly warming to Regina Spektor after going to see her a couple of months back. Love Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins though, very pleased to see that as your number 1, beer good!
 
Older stuff mostly (The Cure and Pixies). The only CDs I bought that came out in 2006 were:

decemberunderground by AFI

If "Santa" decides I've been a good boy this year, I shouild also get the Killers' Sam's Town for Christmas.
 
I've been listening to more symphonic metal, so I've bought a lot of that. Leave's Eyes, Nightwish, Kamelot, Therion...I am a little obsessed, but I'm glad to be listening to that instead of some other things that play on the radio.
 
Nothing half as interesting as BeerGood's list, I'm afraid. But I got a steal on a Sirius for my car and heard something by Yo La Tengo the other day. Another world opening up with some British channels and 3 French channels. Huge learning curve as the music on the foreign stations is so different from what we have here. And now I can escape commercials! Yeah!

I enjoyed Pearl Jams self-titled album. Other than that, there was nothing to buy worth a darn.
 
Sadly, not much of my money this year went to my CD-buying habits, but if it did, I imagine my list would probably bear a great similarity to beer_good's.
 
This year I surprised even myself with my choices and favorites.

Interesting choice. I would have went for Anglia or Slovanska off that album.

Hmmm, well the first time I listened to the album, I liked those two tracks, and also Francia, the best. Now (whilst listening again to write the post) I might have changed my mind. Think Anglia is a bit too strange though, but Slovanska is okay. Nippon is growing on me...
