Some great music listed on this thread! I'm very impressed that you were all able to narrow it down to three. I don’t think I could trim my list down to ten.

mehastings and Rincewind, do you prefer the original 'Sympathy for the Devil'/'Comfortably Numb' or the covers by Sisters of Mercy?

I recommend checking the various covers on 'Sympathy for the Devil' by Laibach. They've made quite a few of them and they usually have a lot of oomph.

I've never actually heard the covers. I tend to like cover songs a lot though. They add a whole new personality to a song.
