Adolescent and Sovereign

Hi, guys. My name is Mark, and I am happy to say that my first book will be published next month.
Here is the description:

--Now that teenagers are in control, the world is perfect. No famine, no poverty, no wars. This was all because of a century-long agreement that allowed young adults to gain control over government. Now that the century-long contract has ended, the teenagers, who were named Juniors, aren’t willing to return their power, as they’ve created a Utopian world. But this is unacceptable for the older adults, or Seniors. Now that the world is perfect, the Seniors are ready to steal the glory, and they will do anything necessary to remove the Juniors from power, including killing anyone who gets in their way.

However, Alec isn’t going to allow this to happen further, because his mother was killed by one of the Seniors’ leaders, and his father was taken and viciously beaten. Alec chooses to fight—along with his mentor, Keyon, the world’s strongest and most durable human; his arrogant friend, Dmitry, a Russian, flame-throwing prodigy; and his stunningly beautiful crush, Alissyn, a medical genius—the war to keep the Seniors in their place. Although he is proficient in combat, and he has the help of his competent friends, Alec commits a gruesome act that leaves himself more shaken than those around him.--

What a horrible idea. Unless your universe has some kind of special plot device that somehow prevents teens from acting like teens.

I definitely understand how you feel. I wouldn't want to be in a world ruled by a bunch of prepubescent kids. The word "teenagers" is a more dramatic word in the description because the book is for middle and high schoolers. In the book, there aren't world leaders, doctors and lawyers who are 13 and 14 years old; they're still in school at those ages. Actually, the youngest person in government is 19, and that is because they are highly intelligent. Some people confuse experience with intelligence. I am a 19-year-old undergraduate studying biomedical science, and I've spent an entire semester interning at my local hospital. I think I'd be more qualified to work at a hospital than my father, who is a truck driver and never went to college. If people were to start intense schooling at a younger age, it would provide the possibility of gaining more knowledge in a short time period, which is what my book is based on. It tells a great story, and I really hope you get to read it. :)

So how is this world different from the present one? You have young, qualified people leading men and women older than their parents, who are less qualified. An old nurse may report to a young doctor but then she may also report to an aged doctor. What has age got to do with it?
We have enough schisms in the world already, why start another one? Why not accept people for what they are, irrespective of color, gender, race, and yes, age.
