I suppose you've heard Television's version of "Blank Generation"?

^I've heard it, I like it. Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine together makes my heart go flippity flappity, but with Richard leaving Television, the "To hold the tv to my lips, the air so packed with cash
Then carry it up flights of stairs and drop it in the vacant lot" bit, suddenly sounds mischievous when he sings it with the Voidoids.

Oh yeah, absolutely. (And it goes nicely with Verlaine's slightly garbled "(T)Elevation, don't go to my head" in "Elevation"...)

There's an anecdote about Richard and Tom that seems to sum them up beautifully. When they were teenage runaways together, they were once arrested for burning down a field. Tom Miller claimed they'd done it because they were just trying to keep warm in a cold world; he'd later take the name "Verlaine" after a French poet. Richard Meyers said he just wanted to see it burn; he'd later rename himself "Hell"...
