Any PC experts out there?

I am getting a worrying message when I boot my laptop, although it doesn't happen every time I start-up.

I get a message in very large letters which fills the screen which says "No Files Found". If I click my mouse, it then goes on to boot windows with no problems at all. All my files are there and there is no performance issues.

I assumed it was a virus, but I have done a virus scan, and nothing came up, and I can't find anything online about it either.

Does anyone know what this is and how to solve it?

Have you done malware scans?

What antivirus are you running?

I am running McAfee, and it is supposed to check for malware.... although it doesn't find anything.

Any message which "fills the screen" (windows won't do that) indicates something along the lines of malware/spyware/virus as sparkchaser indicated. Try Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and Spybot Search and destroy. Both outstanding. May need to run these in safe mode. Plenty of info on the net how to do that, but I will help you if i can get back to the computer soon enough!

Also any anti virus anti malware software has to be updated constantly.

Thanks, thats really helpful I'll give that a try.

Everything is backed-up, and my virus protection is also updated regularly, so not sure what happened, but I guess you can't be 100% protected.

Sorry for the delay in replying, my poor laptop finally gave up the digital ghost... So now I have a brand new one and I am just setting it up! Thanks for the help guys!
