Hello everyone,
Could I have any suggestions on a good book for me to read?

Something along the lines of Nicholas Sparks "The Notebook". Something not too spiffed up with sex. Something about young love, first love, based on 1900's to 1950's, a sappy love story, wealthy girl in love with boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Something based on any of the things above!!

I would really appreciate it, Thank you in advance!

Candice

I honestly don't understand why people like his writing....

The last good romance story I've read was The Time Traveller's Wife. If you like Jane Austen - ish kind of books, also try I Capture the Castle.

He wrote A Walk to Remember, which was sortof what you are looking for.

Personally I'm not a fan of his writing, but it wasn't horrible.

Have you ever read Gone With the Wind? It's got all the elements.

I never read Sparks, but I like Barbara Delinsky.

Her books are usually more interesting than the standard "He chases her" or "She chases him" scenarios.

try The Time Traveller's Wife by Audery Niffenegger. it's a fantastic love story. but you have to be able to understand time travel and not be confused. it's not a science fiction book AT ALL, it's a book about relationships and life. struggles and happiness. i laughed and cried (that sounds so cliche).

**oops, i just noticed this was recommended above!!!

i also vote the time travellers wife. i loved it. could NOT stop crying!!(this is a good thing)

Why don't you try Ripening Seed by Colette? It's a slim story, no epic of desire and destiny, but very evocative of young love, set in 1920s France.

For a bigger story, I'd go for Madame Bovary. Or the story of Colette's own life.

If you change your mind and want to venture the opposite route, read Gerald's Game, by Stephen King... (snicker, snicker). Imagine being tied/handcuffed to your bed in a kinky sex act, and then having your partner die on top of you.
