anyone in to asian films?

It's from Japan.

It's about a schoolgirl with a gatling gun for an arm who takes down a whole family of yakuzas.

It stars porn stars. It's not a porn movie, it just... stars porn stars.

It's very very VERY bloody. And utterly hilarious.

The Machine Girl. Tell your friends.

re: Machine Girl

That funny that you mention Machine Girl, I was just talking about that yesterday too. It was just made available on Netflix's Watch Instantly thing. I'll probably watch it this week. That and Tokyo Gore Police were made available at the same time. I chose to watch the latter first.

Rashomon by Akira Kurosawa is one of my favorite movies. I've been meaning to watch some Wong Kar-wai movies, namely Fallen Angels and Chungking Express

Watched In the Realm of the Senses the other nite on bluray and seeing it like this after years of seeing it on vhs and the previous low quality dvds made it seem like a different film.

Saw Audition for the first time earlier this month. Rob Zombie said it freaked him out, so I expected a lot. I was disappointed. It was weird, but slow. (The chick is cute though)

I love you for posting this :D. The end was creepy, yes, but the rest of the movie wasn't very good. I'm all for a slow buildup but the way it was handled didn't work for me.

Watched Park Chan-wook's Thirst the other nite, his take on Catholicism and vampirism. Meh.

Meh? I thought it was really good - not quite up there with Oldboy or Lady Vengeance, but certainly more successful than the cute-but-flawed I'm A Cyborg But That's OK. Sure, it's been done before, but there were some pretty creepy moments, and an emotionally believable story underneath the blood and fangs... Plus, man, it looks good. OK, so it's nothing fundamentally new, but I liked it. :star4:

Anamnesis, I love you no matter what! :p
Yeah, there was a lot of waiting... I felt like Takashi Miike let me down once again.

I'm pretty 'meh' on all of his films except for Oldboy and Joint Security Area.

I have no choice but to watch Asian movies, living in Thailand. Many Thai movies are really awful, but Ong-Bak 1 and 2 have great action. Butterfly Man is a well made movie but it is very sad and watching it makes me very angry, but still a good movie. Som Tam is a very funny movie also.

The Girls' Rebel Force Of Competitive Swimmers. A zombie virus takes over a Japanese high school, and only the swim team remain unaffected. Luckily, one of them has been trained as an assassin by an insane sex maniac. Utter crap extreme low-budget film that doesn't even manage any good gore (plenty of nudity, though), but if you're half as sick as me, it's worth watching for the final showdown, which is... WHAT? WHAT? WHAAAAAT? Suffice to say I've never seen it do that before.

Must sees:

Dreams - Akiro Kurosawa
Also, Kurosawa's Shichinin no Samurai (Seven Samurai) is widely regarded as a masterpiece. But Dreams really does it for me.
Oldboy - Chan-wook Park (I'm sure the rest of the "vengence" movies are good, but it's not actually possible to beat the hallway scene in Oldboy)

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring. I need to take time out to see Kim-Ki duk's other work. It's not a flick that features much action. But you're probably not doing anything better with two hours.
