Are Audiobooks Cheating?

Its funny. I love some audio books more than the physical book. For example, I love hearing a Lee Childs book, read by Dick Hill. Makes the book wonderful. In print I find Lee Childs unreadable. Just cant get through it. The narration makes all the difference in this case. But Dick Hill could read a grocery list and I would pay money to hear it. Seriously, check him out.

A lot of it has to do with who the reader is. I love reading Simon Winchester. Listening to him is entirely another matter.

The worst IMO is when the author reads his own work. John Updike may be a transcendent author but he is a stone cold boring reader.

well it isnt cheating but if you want to really use your noggin i think reading text is best

I don't think so; I find an audiobook most relaxing whilst taking a warm bath with a glass of Rosè.

I finished school and now have an even longer commute to work. Audio books make the drive seem much shorter than it really is. My library has more audio books now than back then and I can even borrow from the library in the city where I work. I "read" more books on audio than print. At home, I'm usually busy with other things.

I don't think audio books are cheating. It's not for everyone, different people have different tastes.

I dont see them as cheating. I like listening to them when I am doing something like driving or working.
