Are you gay?

Of course it doesn't matter...but here's one for ya.. I'm not a Gay, but my mother, her sibs, and her dad were all Gays..even some of my cousins are too. Imagine the fun of doing genealogy research with a surname like that:)

Here's something to make you feel even happier.

The etymology of the usage of the word in connection with homosexuality is not clear – although it's certainly not 'Good As You', as has sometimes been claimed.

However, for those who like to contemplate 'innocent' means to the word, it's worth remember that, in the 19th century, a 'gay house' was a brothel and a 'gay woman' was a whore.

:)

Words are sure fun, aren't they?:p My cousin used to introduce himself by saying, "My name's Rick, and when I get to know you better I'll tell you my last name.."

I once worked with a woman named Gay. I have not seen that name before or since. Numerous awkward moments ensued when people would walk in the office and ask "are you Gay?" Everytime they would burst out laughing. We all grew used to it. What we retain on our neurons...

Well, I've always had leanings...

LOL:D

As for some earlier comments-yes, odd topic. I don't believe that I have ever viewed myself primarily through a lens of sexuality, religion, politics, or affection for John Denver music.:p Those things are important, but they do not represent the totality of life, or who you are as a whole person.

Fairy, Sissy, Queen, Puff, Poof, Poofter, Swish, Pansy, Queer, Dyke, Gay, Bent, Nancy boy, Fruit , Fag, Faggot. These are just some of the words which have been nicked from their original use by the shirt-lifter brigade.

Thieving gits I say! ;) BTW, I'm not sexual in any way. :)

Lavender boys is anothere one,old fashion.

When you say any way,is there more than one?

And don't forget 'friends of Dorothy'.

Isn't it amazing that there are nowhere near the same number of (essentially derogatory) names for bisexual women – perhaps that's because most straight men fantasise about that idea like mad and, therefore, don't feel an insecure need to deride it?

Sounds probable. I think the fact that most women who claim to be actively bisexual aren't actually bisexual and are just either trying to impress men or getting caught up in the whole 'bisexual women are cool' trend also contributes and there don't need to be new words. We already have words for people like that. And of course I'm only talking about the bisexual women who aren't really bisexual.

Another B&R classic thread.....brought to you by............abecedarian.:D

There is too much joviality here in this thread, it's too gay.;) (i.e.-within the context of being happy, lest anyone misconstrue the improper meaning which I was not implying at in the first instance)

There are a lot of women who are bi-curious – in western society (and particularly the UK and US) it's certainly easier to admit to that as a female than as a man, particularly since it's such a popular hetero male fantasy.

There was an amusing article in the Guardian in the UK a few years ago about how lesbianism was fashionable amongst women because, the author (a woman) claimed, it was all "camomile tea and cuddles" and not hot, sticky sex, and was a refuge from all those nasty men who made relationships so difficult. Hilarious.

The other thing that always amuses me is so-called lesbian porn – not the real stuff, but the stuff made by and for hetero men.

It's hysterical. Do men really think that what goes on in those films is all that women can do sexually together? ;)
