Well, are you? What do you want to see and don't you like about it? I ask this as I log in and quite frequently, this place is dead. So what is the deal? I know I'm a post hog, but holy cow people. Graveyards are more jumping with action at times.

Just few things i noticed about BAR.
First ,a strong inclination for genres, like crime, fanatsy, horror and so on,which i like a lot along with true literature.
The little circle of aficionados has meltted in the last years due other forums more strongly literary orientated and with strong leading administration with real interest in books.
A forum with no heavy duty leading with writing and reading background,is a dead or dying place. On other forum,if one post a review or try to stimulate the discussion, one usually find a responce. Not all the time, but a least now and then.
BAR has become the Abysse.

An obvious exemple http://www.bookandreader.com/forums...ial-box-december-2025-a-19307.html#post284773 this has been lying there for 2 days and it's just short of spam,at least self promotion.

Stewart having been one of the living soul of the place and kept it alive nearly on his own, has now some other interest. Would it not be time to try to rethink the organization.
If someone like Bjorn did not contribute regularly here,we would be even fewer to come along.

I do feel that the general atmosphere here is much friendlier than some other book forums I have looked at. Some really do tear into each other which just makes it a really nasty place to be. So BAR scores highly there.

I guess as a newbie here I am not sure what other members like to see posted. I have posted several reviews and had no response, but put that down to either my reviews being rubbish or that nobody else had read the book in question (or both!).

I like this forum, sometimes a lot of the topics aren't very relevant to me. I haven't experienced too many other forums, but I do get attacked here more than the others. I guess maybe I state my thoughts a little too openly and offend someone, but it's impossible to be perfect. Still, it's nowhere near youtube, so I can't complain more than that.

I found this forum by searching the vbulletin index while searching for book forums. Even though I noticed that it did not have a lot of activity, I joined anyway, attracted to the newspapers/magazines section. Through a post on this forum I did find a much more active site geared more towards writers than readers. However, I have no plans to abandon this site. I will try to contribute more.

There are things about the forum that I don't care for, but I don't think it would do any good to get into specifics, so I won't.

Overall, I like the forum but there are so many demands on my attention right now that I simply don't have a lot of time to spend here. For what it's worth, I'm still having difficulties focusing on books long enough to finish one.

I like this forum. I find it to be a terrific resource in finding new books and authors to try and really value the reviews given.

I enjoy reading your posts and even though you're not a prolific poster, your posts tend to be worth reading.

To answer the original post, yes I like this forum.

I am used to the slow/fast periods in the time I have been a member.
Don't be discouraged is nobody replies to your posts. It could be minutes or days or longer before someone replies. Just keep posting; B&R has a very diverse membership with different interests and perspectives.

I moved it to the Writers Showcase.

I usually don't read every new post on this forum, so obviously some self-promo will slip by. If anyone comes across some spam, click the
report.gif
report post icon at the top of the post. This will send an alert to the mods for quick cleanup on Aisle 5. ;) But I think that for every spam you see, there are about 10 that are removed before anyone sees them.

Chicken and egg. I don't post that much because it is like a graveyard here.

If you wanted serious discussions you would unlock the 'mature discussions' thingy so that the less mature among us can join in the conversations about swine flu, school cell phones and unemployment and keep your fingers crossed that no one starts a topic about politics or religion, God forbid.

I would post more, but i seem to have a lack of deep book knowledge like many of the others. So most threads i cant add too. So i enjoy it for the most part, except for my lack of books read.
