Astronomy Books

Can anyone offer a suggestion for a good basic astronomy book? I've got a pretty good one but it seems to be top heavy with equations--which is fine...I just love equations!

Anyway, I thought I would like to have one around for my kids and I to use. Suggestions?

It's not really what you are looking for, but if you are interested in such things, I strongly recommend The Perfect Machine by Ronald Florence. It's a wonderful history of the telescope at Mt. Palomar.
