Well? Which one is it?

Mine is Chris Rhea - Driving Home For Christmas. I just love his voice, and that song gets me in the festive mood (not a euphemism, mind) every single time.

Cheers

I like the Pogues song Fairytale Of New York

Yea, yea, that one, that one! Altogether now "You're a bum, you're a punk, you're an old slut on junk, . . . You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap, lousy faggot, "Happy Christmas" my arse, I pray to God it's our last!"

Now that's what I call festive.

*SINGS ALONG* :D

I lurve Christmas songs - can't think of my favourite at the moment but one I do like is 'Last Christmas' :)

I also know most of them off by heart - I used to work in retail (part time job whilst at Uni  ) and at Christmas we had to play one CD, on repeat, every day, for about 6 weeks

- it's kind of hard not to know all the words!

White Christmas - Bing Crosby .. execellent song. Then there are some great danish christmas songs, but I wont bore you with those.

Just about the best thing I ever heard in my life was an a capella concert of Old English Christmas music (15th and 16th century) sung by a really good college chorus.

I'm not religious, but I also love trumpet and choir music, particularly in Latin--like Panis Angelicus.

I'm the happiest Christmas tree, ho ho ho, he he he :D

Like Ice, I used to work in a shop and we played the same 90 min CD over and over for about 6 weeks. OH THE JOY!

Ditto on the retail thing. "Santa Baby" induces serious stomach disorders now.

I like "Silver Bells" and "Carol of the Bells" tho. And even tho I'm not religious, I like "Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)"

I love Fairytale of New York! :D

It was christmas eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won’t see another one
And then he sang a song
The rare old mountain dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you
So happy christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They’ve got cars big as bars
They’ve got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It’s no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold christmas eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of new york city
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing galway bay
And the bells were ringing out
For christmas day

You’re a bum
You’re a punk
You’re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy christmas your arse
I pray God it’s our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can’t make it all alone
I’ve built my dreams around you

Another vote for Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl! I love that song.

And ditto again on the retail Xmas CD thing - by the time you've heard "Little Donkey" for the 1,008th time festive is not how you are feeling. However, the funniest thing was when the Xmas shop CD was playing a German carol "Die Tannenbaum" (spelling?) which I think means The Christmas Tree or something, well, it is sung to the tune of the Labour party's "We'll keep the red flag flying" (OK, I know it's the other way round), and a customer actually complained about the shop broadcasting a socialist song and said it was bias and should not be allowed!! :D

Ahhhh I too love Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas. I can't drive, but it reminds me of going home for Christmas, of the way I feel, I just love it.

My all-time favourite though is probably The Pogues & Kirsty McColl's Fairytale Of New York. Used to hate it as a child, but I have grown to love it in my old age!!

I also love Stop The Cavalry, I Believe In Father Christmas, and Do They Know It's Christmas? (The original not, version 3 by Band Aid 20....) Strangely these are not the most positive of songs.... Hmmm.

Oh Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum
Wie grun sind deine blatter...

Thats all I can remember of it from learning it at Crimbo in a German lesson.

let's have a patrick swayze christmas, by crow t. robot

open up your heart and let the patrick swayze christmas in
w'll gather at the roadhouse, with our next of kin

or we'll tear your throat out, and kick you in the ear!
