What were your favorite and least favorite films of 2007?

Thus far, the worst movie of the year is a toss-up between Good Luck Chuck and Hannibal Rising. GLC had some poor acting and awkward jokes, whereas Hannibal Rising was visually stunning but devoid of any substance. I wasn't too fond of Straightheads either, although I felt Gillian Anderson delivered an excellent performance (as always).

My favorite movie of '07 . . . not sure, to be honest.

Least favourite – couldn't really think: it would have been something that I turned off or picked up a book while it was on.

Favourite is easy – La Vie en rose, Oliver Dahan's biopic of French singer Edith Piaf.

Life-afirming in places and intensely moving in others – particularly at the end – this can't possibly cover every aspect of Piaf's life, but it gives us a real sense of what produced a singer who seemed to bare her soul for the audience in that way that 'the Little Sparrow' did.

Marion Cotillard is absolutely superb in the lead role and the music is, of course, sublime.

I found the following movies very enjoyable :)
"The Simpsons Movie"
"Beowulf"
"Stradust"

(Hm, the above movie collection looks a bit biased. But it seems that the fantasy and animation was good this year!)

On the other hand, "Transformers" was BORING! I can't believe I spent my time on it! I don't get it how this movie got its high score at the IMDB. The dialogs were unbelievably lame. The action was also poor. It seems that only the animators seemed to know their job in this movie - the transformers were the only thing that was OK in the movie.

What were your favorite and least favorite films of 2007?

Favourite film – Moliere. OK so it’s “Shakespeare in Love” in French, and some of the acting is a little hammy. Even if you can’t recognise Moliere quotes in the French you know when they are coming because of the posture and enunciation of the actors. But it is a fun romp - there is enough of the farce about it to give it a feel of a Moliere tribute – And you get that warm feeling when you recognise the references.

Least favourite – Star Wars III. Having seen the other five, I felt obliged watch the final instalment, and even though I had low expectations this spectacularly failed to meet them. The effects were tired, the need to drag ‘favourite’ characters into the story was tiresome. The big climaxes weren’t. OK none of the films were that good, but I don’t remember the first couple being this bad.
