Bill Maher; Religulous

Does he still laugh at his own jokes? Sometimes a lot more than the audience does? He's not my cuppa.

I thought it was an excellent documentary and made some great points. I'm thinking about sending a copy to my folks...

I had no idea you could embed youtube. Do you click on the photo tag to get that to go?, that's pretty cool!

The theme park where you could watch an actor get flogged was a bit over the top for me. I guess I'm shocked that people would expose their kids to that kind of thing, then again, we have parents who take their kids to violent movies. It reminded me of when we went to see Passion of the Christ, we were quite horrified that people brought along their young children. Leave the kids with the grandparents folks, sheesh.

I thought it was funny up until the end when he got all preachy and melodramatic.

Agreed. Not to mention that he was so eager to prove that there's no middle ground that he basically lambasted some of the people he interviewed for NOT being fundamentalists. "How dare you not conform to my strawman argument", sort of.

He is funny, he makes a couple of interesting and/or amusing points and yes, that Jesus theme park bit was truly disturbing. The central idea - best, perhaps, represented in the scene where he asks a woman to explain the actual difference between a fairytale and a religion - is well worth making. But ultimately it's a little too disjointed, a little too fond of easy targets, and not nearly as intellectually profound as he thinks it is; basically, it's a stand-up act masquerading as a documentary. A fun one, but no more than that.

I had a good laugh with Riligulous and I try to watch his show every time it's on.The Jesus theme park was ridiculous, really.(IMO)

I found that he was abrupt in some interviews and would not let them reply but his show is much better.

I thought it was funny up until the end when he got all preachy and melodramatic. I love his show on HBO though. Here's one of the best moments from it, a bunch of 9/11 conspiracy people start yelling and disrupt the show and Bill jumps into the audience to help escort them out:
Did you see it last night?

Yes, I saw the repeat last night. Madeleine Albright had the first segment with him,and said some interesting things about the difference having a woman as Secretary of State, then a man.

Keith Olbermann came on later and I didn't stay up to see everything he talked about.
