Book I read a long time ago

I must have read this book 10 years ago, but can't remember tilte or author.

A priest is sent to a small Mediterranean village (i Think) to investigate a miracle that has taken place and claims that the person should be made a saint

It's a very slow paced book but a great story.

I would love to read it again

Finally found the book.

It's the Devil's Advocate by Morris West

A terminally ill English priest is sent by the Vatican to a small village in Italy to investigate the life of a local hero and reputed miracle worker who is a candidate for canonisation.
