I've just joined this forum today, and I'm just SO relieved; For years I've always thought my love of books was somewhat unusual, and now I find that I'm not alone!
Of course I catalogue what books I've read. This probably does sound crazy to someone who reads a book a year, but when you read about a book a day, it's a necessity because it's impossible to keep track of what you've already read otherwise.
I like nothing better than going to either the library or a bookstore and coming home with a huge sackful of books. I then head for bed, choose which one I'm going to start with, but have to have all of the others piled around me. If I don't have at least 6 books waiting to be read, I go into panic mode that I may run out.
Someone earlier in this thread said that they always take more books than they need when going on vacation. Well, in my mind, you can never have too many books. Don't feel guilty about it - enjoy them!
I have books stashed everywhere - just in case, you understand! It's compulsory for me to carry 2 with me wherever I go, there's one in the glove compartment, 4 on the bedside cabinet, whole shelves full in the office, boxes in the loft.....
I remember when I was at school, our english teacher instructed us at the beginning of the school year that we had to write a report on every book that we read and keep it in a folder. He said he would collect them towards the end of the school year. You should have seen his face when I handed in about 200 book reports!
Oh, I'm just so glad I found this site!
