Books that get a reaction(i.e.-People confronting you about it)

splash some of that colour wierd this way..did ya'll think I made up the word abecedarian?? Dictionaries are great reading.

I guess I am weird, too. :D I'll look up a word I've heard and want the real definition for and find myself just continuing down the page.

*trotting back from the bookshelf with Webster*

Gee, I thought she made that up! *looking sheepish*

I thought that she had made it up too, until my father came over while I was on the forum and asked me to look the word up because he recognised it but didn't know what it meant. :D

I found the word by accident when my oldest girls were toddlers, and Ijust loved how the meaning is so tied to how the word sounds.

The Necronomicon: Apparently too many people still think this book is real.

God Against the Gods: I kept getting people who have never actually read the book trying to "save" me from it.

My beautiful new VAMPIRE: THE REQUIEM RPG book: Because it is just absolutely gorgeous for a book in general and for a game reference in particular.

I can see how God Against the Gods might be a great conversation piece. If I saw someone reading it, I might ask what they think. The other two would just make me roll my eyes and keep walking.

At a book sale some time ago I bought:

The Encyclopedia of Unusual Sex Practices

The title alone had me mentally in stitches so I had to buy it, but dear gods the look the clerk gave me when I went to pay for it. I have never seen such a hilarious mix of wonder, curiosity and utter distaste on anyone's face.

If the book's title hadn't done it the clerk did, it wasall I could do to not burst out laughing like a madwoman.

You should have told him it was for your mother:D :D :D

hm that reminds me of when i'd get reactions from strangers over a band shirt/patch i'd be wearing.

no one i see daily really comments on my books since they dont really.. read. only for school i suppose. i had conversations about stephen king when i was reading Carrie a few weeks ago. Fight Club has been grabbing some attention. Lovely Bones is popular so that was obviously a conversation starter.
