Books. Who needs goddamn books anymore?

I don't know text speech (I know that "h8" means "hate", and simple stuff, but how does 1337 = "elite"?)

I'm not sure it is a bad thing, though. It's not just about saving bandwidth, either. It's about ease and speed of entering messages from a cellphone keypad, isn't it?

I am sure that every generation has had their "thing". I am not sure that the new "things" are necessarily bad. We can still cling to out nostalgic and comfortable ways, but I would hate for future generations to be stifled by our hangups.

Reminds me of the woman who said, "if English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!" She may have been a friend of the woman who said to Stephen Hawking, "But it's turtles all the way down!"
(page 11, EL&IC)

The way I've heard that is in regard to the King James version versus modern translations: "If the King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!"

According to Webster:

Luddite | Lud"dite |
n.
One of a number of riotous persons in England, who for six
years (1811-17) tried to prevent the use of labor-saving
machinery by breaking it, burning factories, etc.; -- so
called from Ned Lud, a half-witted man who some years
previously had broken stocking frames. --J. & H. Smith. --H.
Martineau.
1913 Webster

Hmmmm, never heard of Ned Lud--his ancestors must be proud of the description of him.:p
