Books you're never likely to see

I don't get the first one, but lol at the other two! :D

Oh, sorry - American/Canadian reference. The National Hocey League Players Association (the players union) is in a snoot about the introduction of salary capping and the possibility of players earning only $9 million, rather than $9.5 million. Big Boo Hoo! As such, they went on strike and the season's been cancelled. It's all a bit ridiculous considering that the design of the salary capping and other changes are for the good of the sport, and to stop it becoming like baseball where there are rich powerhouses who dominate.

And I've got another one... I wonder who'll get this one:

Counting for Dummies (Spanish Edition) - Bono

Yes. But if you want to continue this conversation I think you should start a new thread in the General Chat section.

Actually, what Wolhay needs to do is explain in detail exactly what he's rambling on about in every single post he's left in this particular thread. I can't find one that makes any sense at all. I really believe he's refering to remarks made elsewhere, but it's so friggin confusing that nobody here can figure it out, especially me. Where does anybody mention anything about "liberal" anything in this exact thread? The discussion might be interesting if Wolhay can be clear about what he's trying to say. The problem is everything he's said in this thread is about as clear as dark chocolate.

Wolhay, if you're going to make statements about an entire continent and all its people you should be clear, and exact in what you're saying. To this point, in this thread, you have been quite the opposite.

re Wolhay, yeah, I couldn't figure it out. It was like a conversation where halfway through you realize the other person's definitions of all the words you've been using are different. Every single part of the exchange is a puzzle.

Yes, this is rather what I'm getting at - different definitions for the word 'liberal'. But the argument is a little ambiguous at this stage, Wolhay, as I cannot see what instigated your comments either.

But I also feel that this conversation does not belong in such an otherwise lighthearted thread.

Thanks for the explanation! :) How about:

Look After The Pennies and the Pounds Will Take Care of Themselves - A Guide To Curbing Personal Expenditure by Elton John.

I think Michael Jackson could be a co-writer on that one!

I think you should follow your own advice and say what's unclear to you.

To answer your first question, I mentioned liberalism and Novella mentioned "liberal". A liberal can be defined as someone who fancy the ideology liberalism (political and economic freedom in this case).

You gotta be kidding me??? I'm unlcear in my last post????? There is not one person in this thread who has any clue what you're talking about. Go back and read every post Wolhay, then come back here.

This is the only post that novella had when you started making bizarre comments:

"The Liza Minelli Workout Book

An Intimate Personal History of Plastic Surgery by Michele Pfeiffer

I Suck by Monica Lewinsky

Spend It or Lose It: What I Did With the Money by Ken Lay

The Kabala Zen British Sex Book for Little Girls Who Like to Shop by Madonna
(wait a sec, I think this is coming out in a month or two)"

I don't see the word liberal or anything like it in novella's post. I cut and pasted it word for word.

You are by far the one who's unclear, and more than a few others in this thread agree with me. I don't see anybody telling me I'm off base on this.

oh yeah... right. now i get it. since you took the time to explain it, i can't believe how simple it all really is. boy, i feel like such an idiot for not seeing it earlier....

I don't really think it's worth pursuing this argument any further. Either there's there's some poop-stirring going on or Wolhay's going with the 'If you don't know what's wrong, I'm not going to tell you' argument. Neither of which I'm going to waste my time on. I'm quite willing to have a reasonable discussion, but I'm not going to waste my time with mind games. And I'm a woman!!

Can't we all just get along? :)

Wolhay,

Post #6 in this thread:
“you there, are you of the impression that some people's motivation for politics is to make matters worse for a majority?”
(Originally directed at Ice, then changed to “you there”: very unclear, and makes no sense as it pertains to this thread. Remember that this thread is only 6 posts long at this point.)

Post #11:
“I'm aware that the thread travels with humor but I've seen several leftist campaigns against liberalism that claims that it's selfish.”
(Again, unclear as to who, or what your referring to. Are you asking a question or making a statement? And about what exactly and how does it pertain to anything in this exact thread? Thread is only 11 posts long at this point and absolutely no mention of anything political. In posts 1-10 please find a “leftist campaign” for me, and be exact.)

post #15:
Then novella stated (kinda buried in her post #15) that “US leftist = liberal”
This is just a plain statement of fact. In the United States the term leftist refers to liberal, and right refers to conservative. Democrats are traditionally left (liberal), and Republicans are traditionally right (conservative). George Bush, right. John Kerry, left. This is nothing other than a statement of general fact as it pertains to American politics. Where’s the controversy?

And again, how does any of that pertain to the thread that it’s all posted in? Which is:
“Books you’re never likely to see”

Phil T, jenngorham, novella, magemanda, kookamoor, and myself have all posted that you’re kinda way off base in this thread, and you’re obviously unwilling to explain what you’re going on about.

I will no longer waste my time trying to understand you, and unless you choose to “man-up” to whatever your agenda might be here, I’ll simply ignore anything you have to say from here on out. At least on this particular topic. That goes for PM’s too.

Is Robert Blake the white O.J. ?

I don't really know much about the case, but that guy sure seemed guilty from what little bit I did hear.
