Brace yourself - same sex marriage legal

Civil unions of same-sex couples are now legal in another state. The backlash should be fun to watch, especially now that there's a new Pope.

It makes me crazy to hear people get so bent about this. What's the big deal? How does allowing same-sex couples the same legal rights as opposite-sex couples in any way change the world? I really love the arguement that this will somehow effect the "sanctity" of marriage. Where's that come from?

Is there really some fear that heterosexual people are now going to convert to homosexual overnight once it becomes legal to marry somebody of the same sex?

I'm really looking forward to listening to conservative talk radio now.

Would you prefer that they live in sin? :)

lol that's funny.

here in cananda it is a hot topic too. i haven't really been following what province allows what, or the arguments because i find it is always the same old bullshit. one of the most laughable arguments is that gay marriage takes away from "conventional marriage" and i laugh at this, as we watch celebrities everyday with their 2 minute marriages or their quest to emmulate liz taylor. if anything makes a mockery of the sancitity of marriage, it's hollywood.

I live basically in the middle of Nowhere. Interestingly, my three nearest neighbors are gay male couples, weekenders. I live on Gay Mountain. For real.

Anyway, one couple has been together since the 1960s. They have the sweetest story. One of them grew up an only child in an old Greek Revival house down the road. His parents didn't want him to move away, so they gave him and his boyfriend a house on the road back in the 60s, which they have lived in on weekends ever since. Now they also own the parents' old house too.

For some reason, my part of the world is very popular with weekending gay couples from NYC.

Gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts, which is just a few miles away, but I'm not sure if any of my gay neighbor couples is legally married. Still, I've lived here 8 years and they've all been together for at least that time.

my brother in law and his partner have been together 25 years. my kids call them uncle peter and uncle raymond, and so far there have been no questions about why. maybe they are still too young to notice. but to them, peter and raymond's house is the best place on earth. huge house, stocked with sweets, peter is an artist, so heaps of art supplies. they dote on the kids like grandparents do.
they are not legally married but have had a private ceremony and they both wear the same silver bracelet.

It should be noted that Civil Unions are NOT the same as Gay Marriage. Civil Unions are a second best style compromised used to placate Gays in an effort to steer them away from the actual marriage issue. I live in Massachusetts. I am strongly in favor of Gay Marriage. I am against Civil Unions. I think it is shitty to say "you aren't good enough to get married, but we'll throw you this bone to try to keep you quiet". It's crap, everyone should be treated exactly the same in my opinion.

--Some people react about this so-called "sanctity ..." bec they followed (or believed) the bible, that the marriage is for man and woman,as God created Adam & Eve,not Adam & Steve. :D

I wonder what's next after this?those animal lover might wanna marry their pet bec they "truly" love each other.

^^of course not! I've never seen or heard same sex animals that fucked each other,I doubt if they are aware of it though , so i was referring more on their "relationship". :D

first let me say, huh? i don't understand your statement,
second there is a species of lizards that practice "homosexuality" as the females can reproduce asexually by performing this sort of donut maneuver around another female. this is the only thing i remember from grade 11 biology.

what ever happened to ...

tolerance is a virtue.
