Chatterbox grandma with adult ADD who cannot keep a job ... and writes steamy romance

Hello Everyone!

I am a grandma of the four most beautiful, smart, and adorable children that ever were born. I wouldn't be a good grandma if I didn't make that claim. Of course their daddy (my son) is the most wonderful and perfect son that any mother ever had. I wouldn't be a good mama if I didn't make that claim. And I have been married over 30 years to my soulmate; the most amazing man that ... well, you get the picture.

Truly, I cannot keep a job. Well, I can now. I drive a truck all over the country with my hubby. Not a pickup truck, but a semi-truck (aka 18 wheeler). We actually get paid good money to wander around and see this amazing country of ours. We've been doing this for the last ten years. Prior to this, I couldn't keep a job. I've been a hospital unit clerk, dialysis technician, endoscopy technician, childcare worker, inventory specialist, airline reservation instructor, aircraft fueler, pilot shop clerk, flight school receptionist, airline customer service supervisor, call center manager, print shop assistant, hotel guest services agent, and some other stuff.
Oh, and if you live in NV and need a notary. I am a Notary Public too. There's a story as to why I went and got the certification and stamp to do that.

I think I used to average about 14 months on a job before I'd get bored of the routine and quit ... or if I got lucky got laid off. Airlines are great for that.

The truck driving pays the bills ... and I love it. No routine here. Yesterday I was in NJ. Today I am in Iowa. Tomorrow I will be in UT. And everyday is casual dress day.

Stuff I do because it is fun and/or interesting to me include:
* astrology - I am teaching myself to make charts
* tarot reading
* working with energy - I am a Reiki practitioner and I also do Tai Chi and QiGong
* reading - which is why I am here. I like non-fiction books simply because I love to learn learn learn. But I also love brain candy like steamy yummy romance novels. I like books to make me feel good or as if I am growing in knowledge.
* spending time with the family. Hubby and I love to go hiking, fishing, or exploring with our son, daughter in law and the kids. We love family time and especially when we can do outdoor activities. Even love stuff at home such as riding bikes or working in the yard and garden.
* writing - even more than reading I love to write. I write both fiction and non-fiction. I am, or more correctly was a published author. The independent press that released my young adult fantasy series went under last year. I just recently went ahead and put the first two on Kindle with Amazon. I am doing some editing on the third before I put it on Kindle. I have several other manuscripts in various stages of completion.

Okay, I did say I was a chatterbox. I will stop here and go explore the forum further. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and make some new friends.

Welcome, and welcome again. We have readers, and we have writers, but I would love to hear someone try to top your experience.
Amazing, to me. :)

Forest Girl, I pass a lot of 18 wheelers driving on I-5. I like thinking some of them contain people like you. We hope you make yourself at home here on B&R.

I've been on I-5 many many many times; all the way from Southern California to Northern Washington. Considering that we are only allowed to drive 55 mph on most of the corridor (I will NOT admit to driving 59) I wouldn't be surprised if you have passed ME up before. Thank you for the warm welcome. :)

Hello and welcome to Book & Reader Forest Girl.

I love your intro by the way, one of the best I've read and much, much more interesting than mine!

hello forest,
i wish to ask you why you chose young-adult as your market when clearly the older person is the most likely to be a reader.
i am interested in your view because i am writing and have decided to make my efforts quite adult.
i would like to know what you have read too.
i think that has to be a private message though so you do not get accussed of advertising in the wrong thread.
hope to hear from you soon.
please ignore the fact i message in lower case, it is much easier on my tablet, to capitalise i have to change to a different screen.

Thank you so much, all of you, for the lovely welcomes. I can't wait to get to know you better through this forum. I got a chance to look around more yesterday and this looks like such a friendly and encouraging group. :)

Mr Hill, I didn't "decide" to write young adult. I had a story come to me one night and wrote it, it just turned out to be YAlt. The characters continued to "speak to me" until I finished the series. However, with that series now complete, the stories that have come to me have been adult romance. I also write non-fiction on topics such as natural healing, nutrition, community service, and volunteering. I'd love to have you private message me more on this.

Wow Grandma/ reader/writer/traveler/ you are awesome. I too am a traveler in rv /retired. I write children's stories. Love mysteries/thrillers, not much on romance, but ok in mystery books. Not into horror, although can take some killings but not too graphic. I recently reviewed Down to Zero by Henry Carver. Excellent read. Want to hear more from you!

How fun! Maybe we've actually met and don't know it. I've been to 47 of the lower 48 states. Just missing Vermont! Also have been up in Canada quite a few times. Where are you today?

We (hubby and I) are in Tennessee, on our way to Texas. Don't know where we are going from there, no load assigned yet. I am guessing Utah is next.

Hello Everyone! I dropped off of here a couple of years ago. Found my way back! I have been very busy! My husband and I stopped driving the truck last year. I was taking online classes and finally got my associates degree. My husband has been working towards a Bachelors degree and I just enrolled in school again to work toward my Bachelors too. We have been busy helping with the grandbabies and being foster owners of the kid's chickens. They were doing the urban farm thing until they moved into a HOA neighborhood. We've been caring for six hens for the past few months. I am back with the airline people. Been there almost a year and I am surprised that I don't entirely hate it ... yet. Found a new small indy press who want my books. I am working on polishing them up.

Welcome back Forest Girl. I think if you ever wrote about all of your life experiences and adventures, that would be an interesting story. Just my opinion of course, but I believe you could tell a few tales, lol. Greg
