Children's Book

Hiya,

I know someone must remember this book. It was read to me at sixth grade camp about 20 years ago.

It is a children's picture book about the sun being in love with the moon. The sun makes this beautiful jeweled egg and has a rabbit take it to the moon.

Along the way, the rabbit loses the egg.

Cool part of the story: the author really created the egg and buried it somewhere. There were clues in the story as to where the egg was buried. If you were the first person to figure it out the author flew you to the location and you got to keep the egg!

I'm sure it's been long found, but I still want the book!

Thanks!

*SUCH* a good book!!! I found this treasure at a book sale years ago. I never did figure out the ending, though....

Any idea what happened to the egg? I don't think I ever knew about the competition!

Wow! Thanks Occlith! I never knew any of that. I have the original hardback at home - no dust jacket, unfortunately, but it's still in lovely condition otherwise. My mother and I pawed over it for a long time many years ago before this new fangled interweb came about to easily look such things up!

Poor Williams - to go to all that trouble and have such a fun competition turn so terribly bad. There've been some other 'prize' books over the years, haven't there? I remember one was published with a deadline in the year 2000 or 2001. I wonder what happened in these instances?

Thanks!

Thanks Occlith for putting my mind at ease!

This book was read to me at 6th grade camp in 1984. The camp counselors must not have known that the prize was already found. The last person I had talked to who knew what this book was a girl I knew in 7th grade.

I'm getting it for myself for Chrsitmas. The hardback, the paperback, and the biography.
