Collection of 3 essays examining sleep/dreams(one in relation to alcoholism)

I think it was written by a British writer(s) (male), though they could easily be American, in the 19th century (possibly the 18th). One of the essays discussed alcoholism (it's casues, effects and how it alters sleep and dreams). The other two essays focussed on dreaming and sleep (I remember one area of the book described people slipping in and out of coma-like states). I think the essays were followed by a poem and a collection of axioms that the author had thought up.

Any help in finding this book would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I found the book I was looking for. It's 'The Philosophy Of Sleep & The Anatomy Of Drunkenness' by Robert Macnish.
