Hive Unit 12's special secreted slime layer will prevent you from gaining purchase upon her precious vat-grown flesh. Any further attempt to restrain Hive Unit 12 will result in release of the poison-tipped homing sporks.

I can't hold her together Cap'n. Her dylithium crystals have blown. She'll never make warp speed.

1. When did your love of reading begin? As early as I learn how to read, :),seriously, I think it all started when my brother brought home this Bible(old and new testament, I'm in fifth grade that time),and I got curious what's in there,so I started flipping thru pages, and read it and then before I knew it,I finished it from cover to cover, from then on I discover something about me,that I enjoy reading.

2. What attracts you to reading versus other forms of relaxation or entertainment?Compare to tv/movie,video games, I consider those stuff as a piece of junk and I don't want any part of it,aside from I learned a lot of stuff in reading, I originally came from a non-english speaking country, and thru reading, now I don't have any trouble communicating in english, but I'm still looking for a book entitle: "Grammar for Dummies" :D
3. And, what brought you here to this forum? I owe it to AOL using keyword "bookforum". :D

Nah----, forget it. Raven, sometimes you just tooooooo naughty, but signifying that you will promisingly exceed your Master in this area, ;) btw who is your master? Tell him/her, you never ever failed him/her.

Too naive and/or silly of me to identify with that "name", and IN this internet world! anyway.

Ah, it is you, wabbit. Thanks! (everwhere got your footprints, hey? :) )
That book is really good. Btw, what you call that kind of style of Latin America Literature? i think they have a special term for that kind of style of writing. Reality transcends to dreamy, dreamy stuff transpired in to real life? The style of Marquez, the style of laura esquaivel, etc. ---I think there are some other authors from Latin America transmitting the same blood of this style. "macordo", what is that?

Yes, I love the magic realism style!! :) Life is full of wonder and magic if you only know how to look at it and what to look for. This is why I like magic realism because it shows you that.

Also latin American literature seems to share a kind of anecdotal style that I really love. This is the way I have always wanted to write and the way that I wantd to read. It has been great to discover that people write that way :D

I really want to read as much by latin American authors as I can find :D Marquez is a wonder. Luara Esquivel's novel The House of spirits was great! Must... get... more!!!

I have not got For Water like Chocolate? yet. It's in my Amazon basket as we speak!!! SOON! I really look forward to reading it!!! It has magical dreamy stuff AND cooking! To things I really like so how can it NOT be good????

It should be obvious that Master Wabbit is THE Master. I think he knows down deep in the innards of his little thumper that I would sooner self inflict one of those nasty paper cuts that seem to be all the rage before I would fail him.

RaVeN

Ah wise grasshopper! An extra bowl of rice for you! I know you can never fail me but if you did that you would throw yourself on a sharpened paper spike!

I must go now... and run along some water!

Q1: Like most here, I don't really remember a time before I read books. I have very clear memories of liking Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George when I was 2. I can tell you that my grandmother once told my mother that I should be taken to the doctor because it was abnormal for a kid to spend so much time sitting in one spot reading. (Not that she was anti-reading, but it is all I did.)

Q2: I've never really dug too deeply into that particular motivation (i.e. what makes me so relentlessly print-oriented). I don't want to burst the bubble. But, I do know that when I am engrossed in a story (or the cereal box, or whatever it is), everything else ceases to exist. I suppose if I didn't have books, I would be a dope fiend or something.

Q3: Like most, I found this forum through our friend Google. I was feeling especially isolated, and gave it a shot.

BTW, Wabbit, I agree 100 % about Magic Realism. When it is done well, it is transcendent. I hope you were able to track down the Chuck Rosenthal books I once mentioned elsewhere.

So I'm not the only one who reads everything around me. Whew! Don (my husband) always tells me that I tune out everything else while I'm reading. I just let the story take over my senses, I reckon. I imagine the sights and the smells and the feelings....takes up a lot of memory space, I don't have room left to pay attention to the stuff around me.
