Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, by Al Franken.

Its a little Michael Moore-ish, but I love it so far. I'm a HUGE Ann Coulter hater, so its right up my alley!

I've seen it on the shelves a number of times, just haven't picked it up. Franken is a hilarious commentator, though I think Michel Moore does a better job.:D

I do agree that Michael Moore does a better job, in the sense of getting the word out. I mean you don't hear people always talking about seeing Al Franken on CNN or reading one of his books. Its just that Michael Moore is like a Hyper-Active - Kid on Christmas Day when he dishes out some governmental dirt, and I like that about him.

I totally agree with both of them. I can't believe that people don't see how our country is going to shit as we speak.

I recommend that anyone who agrees with their views should read one of Frankens books. He really loads them full of interesting facts, it'll make you think.

What Books are you reading now?

I am right now reading the following books for review:

1) From Fatigued To Fantastic by Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D. - Completely Revised Third Edition, ISBN: 978-1-58333-289-4

2) Homeopathy - What to Expect? by Edward De Beukelaer, ISBN: 1-41204509-6

3) Secrets from the Sofa - A Psychologist's Guide to Achieving Personal Peace by Dr. Kenneth Herman, ISBN: 0-595-41432-X

4) The Foundations of Shiatsu by Chris Jarmey, ISBN: 978-1-55643-639-0

5) Supercharging Quantum Touch by Alain Herriott, ISBN: 978-1-55643-654-3

6) The Journey to Pain Relief by Phyllis Berger, ISBN: 978-0-89793-469-5

All of them are related to health and healing. But I read many other books, fiction and non-fiction.

Perfect Hostage - A Life History of Aung San Suu Kyi. I am only a few chapters into it and I'm already engrossed. I have been interested in the situation in Burma for many years (I lived in Thailand for 7 years and taught some Burmese refugees) and reading this book in the light of recent events makes it even more interesting.

I'm just now finishing The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad. This (female) journalist lived with the bookseller's family for several months after the Taliban were driven out of Kabul. It is an inside view of Afghan family life, and not at the lowest level either. The bookseller is an entrepreneur, devoted to books but hardnosed about his business. His word is law with his women: mother, sisters, daughters, both wives. I see the world from inside the burka and that I don't have to live there is my best evidence that Allah is compassionate, to me at least.

I am currently reading "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson, am loving this book after only 40 or so pages. I have laughed loads already, can thoroughly recommend it.

^I have that one, but have yet to read it. Bill Bryson always makes me laugh. :D

He always makes me laugh too, I laughed so hard yesterday while reading at the breakfast table that I spluttered and sent coffee and croissant everywhere! Thankfully I was alone. The worse thing is when you are in a public place reading and want to laugh hysterically but have to suppress it!:)

The Will to Believe and other essays by William James. Although the collection is entitled The Will to Believe, that is only the first of about 15 essays on such subjects and determinism and "the moral philosopher."

I'm reading Amish Grace. It's the story of how the Amish people dealt with the shooting that took place at the Nickel Mines School in Pennsylvania in Oct. '06, killed 5 girls and injured 5 others. We made a trip to the Amish country last month and I saw this book on sale. They are an amazing group of people.

I have three non-fiction on the go at present, for gaps in my fiction reading:

Gaudí by Gijs Van Hensbergen

Frederick the Great by Giles MacDonogh

And the 'shorter' Pepys.

Fingerprints Of The Gods

right now i am into non fiction book. the book is "Fingerprints of God".this book is an inspirational and getting interesting day by day..

'Brainworks - Meditation & Mind-Hacks For Creatives' by Simon Jackson. I got it from my wife for Xmas as a pithy 'joke'. I'm a graphic artist in the real world, and I find it hard to switch off thinking about work at night, and I can be a 'little' tense at home. This is helping a lot. Only halfway through it but it's good so far.
