Daisies - a poem

Daisies

The daisies of the field grow and have their day,
then perish – most of them – without their chance
for lauds at their transitory beauty and existence.
But such metaphors are inadequate for the reality,
of a world gone upside-down where false-fact
replaces actual truth and urges human violence.

How will humanity ever improve when
the all-too-rare individuals, who have scaled the realms
of highest achievement against an all encompassing
tide of destructive ignorance, are plucked from among us,
unable to serve as enduring role models,
beacons for all to see? Where is humanity’s hope?

Will chaos ever be conquered?
Or must there be misery forever?

I believe that chaos cannot remain in place of Light as, Light is ever present. So despite what might seem dismal, Light always outshines!

j10976m,

Many thanks for reading my poem and for your thoughtful comment:

"I believe that chaos cannot remain in place of Light as, Light is ever present. So despite what might seem dismal, Light always outshines!"

Yes, indeed, that is the hope -- yours and mine.

However, just at the moment, turmoil and chaos are beginning to seem to me like a permanent possibility.
Calm and stability seem to be far from guaranteed.

Stay hopeful, :)

Your choice of metaphor is inspiring. As a gardener with heart for beauty, daisies are refreshing to the soul. They can teach us the importance of rallying against the elements and seeking restoration and rejuvenation.

We are seemingly lost in the desert, but we too can rally against the darkness and despair and reclaim our peace even if only within ourselves.

Thank you so much, KariBernadine, for a very kind reply. :)

You lift my own spirits and encourage me to plug on, continuing to try to get thoughts onto the page.

Most sincerely

Your poem encouraged me and reminded me of the truth that we are ‘humanity’s hope.’ One breath, one step, one moment at a time we can be the difference that echoes in eternity.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Kindest regards,
Kari
