Do you own an iPod?

I have one but I'm not sure which my husband gave it to me, I'll look at it when I'm in the car tomorrow. I didn't want one at first but now I love it :)

I don't have one and don't really want one - you're mainly paying for the brand when you get one of those. You can get much better mp3 players for the same price (at least you can here).

Ipod, Therefore I Am.

No, but I don't understand the Shuffle concept. Why would anyone want one of those? Ipods are quite ugly, as well. Even with the choice of ten billion "skins". I have a very sexy-looking black 3GB MP3 Player that I received as a Christmas present. I use that when running, otherwise I just stick to my mobile phone.

I have an Ipod mini and it's reeaally pretty, Steffee!! Although I totally agree with you on the Shuffle concept - what's up with that? The shuffle function has been around forever, but Apple is pitching it like it's a new thing?!
The Ipods are maybe a bit pricy but they are also totally great, and considering my last player before that was a Sony Walkman Casetteplayer, I thought I could justify that buy to myself ;).

But, but they're just not pretty. They're disproportionate. And unstylish. And cheap-looking.

But I still have a Sony Walkman somewhere. It doesn't even have a radio. Oh, the shame.

No Ipod, I have an Mp3 player I have had for about three years I use for running/hiking. It was really expensive when it first came out...but I love it and use it almost every day.

I do not own an Ipod, nor do I own an MP3 player. I'm still stuck in the Stone Age with CDs and CD players...

I bought a cowen iaudio and ended up going through 4 in the space of two weeks eventually buying a 30g ipod video in Jan. I suspect one of my brothers friends robbed it on me about a week ago :(

I got an iPod nano for Christmas and immediately downloaded The French Lieutenan'ts Woman onto it. I have dial-up, so it took about fourteen hours. I'll listen to it while I walk. (After it stops snowing.) :D Oh, oh, oh! I also found a cool speaker/charging system for it at Costco! :)

I have a 3rd generation 20GB iPod, ie with the scroll wheel and four buttons rather than the click wheel:

I have to disagree with steffee (er, unless you're talking about the iPod minis only, which are a bit plasticky looking, sorry pinkshadow); I think the iPod still looks cool and until recently, for looks it knocked all the competitors (Creative Zen? iRiver??) into a cocked hat.

That's changed though, with the arrival of the Sony Walkman mp3 player. It really does rival the iPod in appearance...

So Stewart, do you object to the monopoly of Apple or to mp3 players in general?

Sorry Shade, but even your 3rd generation whatever its name is, doesn't look that special to me. Certainly not special enough to warrant the cost! It looks suspiciously like my mobile phone - which was cheap, and is plasticky. Creative Zen is ugly too though, and that other one, so it isn't just yours ;) ... but I will concede they have some pretty nifty looking speakers and all the other millions of accessories. And they're the kind of design that is so ultra stylish that within three minutes they were bound to look dated.

That Sony Walkman is gorgeous! It's just incomparable to the iPod (any of them), ugh what a horrible name, even. The new range of Sony Walkman mobile phones are delightful.

No to both. In fact, I just got my dad an iPod nano for his birthday and have spent the evening putting all his crappy JPop records on it. :(

I just don't like iPods on the stupid notion that every time I'm trying to read a book on a train and some twat is "sharing" their music (i.e. either awful pop or heavy gruntcore) then it always just happens to be an iPod they have.

I probably would get one, but I just don't like Apple's iTunes. I bought one track from iTunes (Anywhere, Cranes) and was pissed off when I found that I couldn't play it with Windows Media Player or Sonique, although I really should have guessed.

Although I like that Sony product you displayed.

I don't own an iPod. I think it is a rip-off. I do own an MP3 player that I bought for 12 bucks. It can only hold about 200 songs, but that's plenty enough for me.

Who in the world would listen to 10,000+ different songs in a lifetime much less regularly?

I travel a lot and use my ipod mostly when out and about, in the car, on the train, when in strange places with yucky radio stations or bad reception. I have all my cds on it.
