Do you talk to yourself?

I mutter curses at myself when I do something especially stupid, but otherwise I don't really talk to myself. Oh, except for when people are really pissing me off, then I mutter under my breath what I /wish/ I had the balls to say.

I talk in my sleep all night long as well. Is THAT talking to oneself?

I hadn't thought of that. Everyone in my house is a sleep talker (even the dog). I suppose you might not be talking to yourself though. You're probably talking to someone in a dream or something along those lines.

BTW, nice to see you back!

I often talk to myself usually about whatevers going on in my life! I also talk in my sleep were apparently i swear and get really offensive! I find this so funny! :)

Talk to myself? ALL-THE-TIME! I work in front of the computer, so I talk, mutter, exclaim, scold, gesture at the screen. More than a few people have remarked that I'm mad. Too bad... my relationship with the PCs I work with is complicated.

I talk to myself a lot. Sometimes because I need to try out dialogues for stuff I'm writing, sometimes because I'm reading passages aloud, and sometimes because I'm actually in the middle of a pro-/con discussion with myself.

The only times where I'll never break into talk with myself is when I'm reading.

Hey, I thought everyone did that!

I am constantly talking to myself in my head, out loud only when i'm alone. But having said that I have been caught out loads of time on the train or when out walking talking out loud or laughing out loud to myself without realising it - yeah I know, go on point at the crazy lady.

I don't consider it crazy till you're using two different voices to argue with yourself that's when I'll start worrying :)

Haha, yeah I do that too. Apparently I "woke up" once when my Mum was carrying me to bed and told her to f*** off

Do other people here "wake up" too? When I was little I /always/ used to just sit up in my sleep and look at people when they came into the room, and even say a few words sometimes. I never remembered it in the morning

LOL Glad i am not the only one! :D

Yes I do talk to myself but it is usually when I am in the bathroom, having a shower or on the computer. It is usually planning on what to say if I need to talk to someone about something like a friend or if I need to ring up and plan on what to say or talk out loud to myself on what is on my mind and question myself.
I also talk to my self in my sleep too and sometimes wake myself up from it. But the main thing I wake myself up from in my sleep is making odd moans which probably sounds like I'm doing...something

i guess in a sense i'm constantly talking to myself in my mind. i write in all of these journals, both offline and online.. recently i was writing on a piece of paper in class out of boredom, and i started off saying something "well, time to talk to myself again"

I talk to myself when I'm really trying to figure out a difficult problem, or if I'm trying to concentrate on several things at once.

The book I'm reading now (Foop! by Chris Genoa) is set in the future when there's about 11 billion people on the planet and overcrowding is a problem:

"Talking to yourself really was becoming the preferred method of communication. I'd say that one out of every four people now talk to themselves to some degree, whether it's quietly muttering or all-out screaming, they clearly have quite a bit to say and choose to say it without bothering to find someone else to listen. And that's strange seeing how there were more people on the Earth to talk to at that time than ever before. Every place I went, from the street to parks, was bursting with people, so it's not that there weren't enough options."

I talk to myself out loud at times but only when im being absent minded. I constantly talk to myself inside my mind, the only downside is when wearing earphones on the bus and you suffer from the paranoia of wondering if you're talking out loud.

If so, what do you talk about? ;)

Not a lot, but I do so when under a good amount of stress. I think I do it to tory and reason out things I may not understand, or to fully see if I understand a given point. Writing projects are another instance where I do--mostly for the sake of clarity.

I have found that if you engage them with conversation amongst themselves, they will leave you alone for a while!

maybe?
