Does anyone else hate Borders?

So, after people have sat around reading a book, cracking the spine, bending the corners and spilling coffee all over it, it is then put back on the shelf and sold at full price? I find this idea rather strange. I think you should buy the book before sitting around reading it and drinking coffee! If you don't want to buy, there's always the library. But it's probably just me who thinks this.

Borders (and Barnes & Noble) encourages people to sit and read their books, whether or not they buy. It's not as though this is something done surreptitously. I think most people can leaf through a book without damaging it, and Borders probably makes a lot more money by providing a place that allows people to be comfortable and take their time browsing. They have certainly made a fortune on me!

I think Borders are great!
Never yet seen a book with, cracking to the spine, bending of the corners or coffee stains! and if I did would not have to buy it
People handle and flick through books in every book shop?
To be able to sit down in some Book shops is a bonus that's all.

I've only had positive experiences with my local Borders back in Oz. My only complaint is that their CDs are overpriced, so I just don't buy them there. But they have this nifty CD reader where you scan the barcode and can listen to some of the album on the headphones - none of this having to get it put on especially for you or being told you can't listen to it because the plastic's on it (I hate that excuse). So I do my music 'research' at Borders and then buy my CDs from the cheaper stores downtown .

I dont hate Borders.. but I much rather going to Barnes and Noble. Their customer service is excellent and it's easy to find things there. The only things I like better about Borders than I do Barnes and Noble is the fact that Borders (at least the one by me) has a very large cafe area and you can go sip coffee and, on Saturday nights, listen to live bands play.

I think we need borders. what else will delineate where one country stops and another starts.

I just want to know who has the job to paint the lines around the countries?

that's just plain funny, i reckon!

i like borders..i prefer to browse quietly and not ask for help.....
