Does anyone know where to find the tunes to the songs?

Has anyone else memorized a song from Tolkien??

Anyone know where to find tunes that go with them or someone else singing them?
My favorite song is The Bath Song, which I always sing when in the shower.

"A loon is he who will not sing!"

My favourite used to be Bilbo's song:

Bilbo's Song

I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies,
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times that were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

In my old house I had a copy of a songbook for piano and guitar for some of the more popular songs. Unfortunately I forgot it in the move and haven't seen it since.

I have an album called "Poems and Songs of Middle Earth". I haven't played it in years, and currently my turntable is awaiting a new belt, but it does have "The Road Goes on Forever" - sung by William Elvin and at least one poem and song in Elvish, as well as poems read by Tolkein. I also have "J.R.R. Tolkein Reads and Sings his The Hobbit and the Fellowship OTR, and "J.R.R. Tolkein Reads and Sings his The Two Towers and TROTK. The Hobbit part is a reading of Chapter V - Riddles in the Dark. I'm not sure where I got these or if they're still available anywhere. They were put out by Caedmon Records 1967 for the Poems&Songs, 1975 for the other two.
Hope this helped some. If you need more info, let me know. :)

-I learned the tune and lyrics to the first 3 verses of The Fall of Gil-Galad

Gil-Galad was an Elven King
Of him the harpers sadly sing
The last who's realm was fair and free
Between the mountains and the sea

His sword was long, his lance was keen
His shiny helm a far was seen
The countless stars of heavens feild
Were mirrored in his silver sheild

But long ago, he rode away
And where he dwelleth none can say
For into darkeness fell his star
In Mordor where the Shadows are

-I memorized it a year ago and haven't forgotten it since, the tune is from BBC's Lord of the Rings Broadcast where Sam Gamgee sings it, telling the tale...

*revives topic*

I've memorised far more songs from LotR than I care to admit *blush* Almost all of them.

As for the tunes I'll recommend 'The Tolkien Ensemble'

They have 3 albums out: An Evening in Rivendell, A Night in Rivendell and At Dawn in Rivendell, and they have some very well thought out tunes to many of Tolkien's poems. I highly recommend them, the ensemble is Danish, though, so they may be a tad hard to find, but I know they can be found on Amazon.cu.uk most of the time.
