Double Standard? & a question

I don't know...might be pretty embarrassing to present the evidence in court....

Photographs, my dear, photographs. If I were on the jury for a case like that I'd be giggling through the whole thing. :D

Back on the original subject...

I saw Debra Lafave on a news clip this morning. I was very disturbed with her behavior. She did not seem to have even a trace of anxiety when she was being badgered by a gazillion news reporters. The news clip showed her in court reading her apology, and the words were perfect, but I didn't hear any emotion in her voice. I personally think that she is one of the very rare female sociopaths.

The CNN news report says that she was planning an insanity defense. This is very rare, very difficult to prove in court, and it basically means that you did not know that your actions were wrong at the time. Just think about this. She's married, she's a teacher, she's having sex with her 14-year-old student, and she has no guilt about her actions. I really wish that the judge had given her a much harsher sentence. Maybe there will be enough publicity and outcry about this case to effect the sentencing in similar cases.

You can be sure that everyone at their school knows the identity of the 14-year-old boy, and he will be brutally teased about this. This sexual abuse will affect him for the rest of his life. I feel really sorry for the boy, and I wish his parents had a little more backbone.

Either that or he'll be the school hero, be high-fived until his hand falls off, and make a load of cash from all the t-shirt sales....

Come on....do you really think he'll be "brutally teased" about boinking the hot teacher on her desk, and getting plenty of oral by her too?

Something tells me he's not going to be too damaged by this.....

Unless it's the other kids beating him up because now they can't get some too....

I imagine the girls will giggle when he walks past them in the hallway and the guys will pester him for details. That kid's parents would be doing him a favor by putting him in another school, whether or not it's Catholic.

Here's another wonderful tale of sex and children...

Georgia law allows children of any age to marry -- without parental consent -- if the bride-to-be is pregnant. The law dates back to the early 1960s and was written to prevent out-of-wedlock births.

Yeeeeee-haaaaaa!!!! Backassward from day one.....

In regards to what the thread started with:

She had sex with a minor, she should be prosecuted for that. She overstepped the boundaries that comes with being a teacher, she should be punished for that. From there to being a sexual predator? I'm sorry.... what?

There is this funny difference between men and women that it is pretty damn difficult for a guy to have sex if he doesn't want to, whereas a woman doesn't have that natural bodily protest. It'll hurt her all the more, yes, but it's not impossible to have complete coitus. I think that's why there's such a difference in sentences.

I agree with those who said that the boy was most likely not harmed.

At my old gymnasium there was a teacher who, at the gymnasium he taught at before, married a student immediately after she graduated. They're still together. Is this reproachable? No, they waited till after her graduation. Then what about the implied fact that the relationship had gone on for quite some time during her schoolyears? Hmmm. He resigned his position that summer and got a job at our school. It's a dubious case. They managed to keep it secret up until the marriage. So I'm mostly impressed.

*looks at post*

*sigh*

Once again I'll come across as thinking everything's fine. I don't, but I figure most will think so.

First about the above, this is a tricky issue. Even a guy can be forced, it is slightly more difficult then forcing a girl. Unless he has supreme self-control his body's reaction when faced with the possibility of sex is basicly automatic.

I think the question is: Is a double standard justified, for a woman exploiting a young boy, than vice versa?
Does the exploitation of a minor cause more harm if you are male vs. female?

I don't think there is a question of whether harm is caused, there is always some harm. Anybody at this age can be easily manipulated by someone older, and if you are minipulated into having sex, this is rape, and will scar the minor in some way for life.

Is this damage worse for a girl than a guy?

Girls tend to be ridiculed in public more than guys, but guys have to pretend that it is all right even if they feel ashamed, because big boys don't cry.
