What memory do you have of a time when you were reading a book? for example

1) I read "1984" when I was going to summer school I had to wait for my dad to come pick me up which took almost an hour so I had plenty of time to read.

2) The power went of at my house for several days while there was still day light I will read as much as I could "About A Boy"

3) On a car trip to Mexico I read the "Odyssey" so this book always reminds me of that trip.

1. When I was 17 and in Vegas, too young to do anything, I read my first Stephen King novel, The Shining.

2. The summer after I graduated high school, I slept on the couch downstairs (where it was cooler). Before going to bed, I read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy.

1. In 2001 I went to Florida for summer vacation. While flying there I read Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor.

2. When senior year of high school started, I was reading Anne Rice's The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned (not during class of course ). I remember my Western Civilization teacher said it looked like an interesting book.

Nice to see how Anne Rice has a special place in our hearts.

3. After a rough year, I moved back to Austin. During this transition, I started the year (Jan. 2004) reading Stephen King's It. This was followed by a King obsession in which all I read were books by him, including the Dark Tower series.

The first Stephen King book I read was Misery back in the early 90's I followed it up with It and I was hooked. I spend the next couple of years just reading Stephen King books with quite a bit of re-reads.

Before I read It I used to get my horror from John Saul. Since the reading of the best horror book of all time (in my opinion), I haven't been able to get through a Saul novel.

I have sinced found other literary genres to satisfy my interests. But I will never stop reading Stephen king

I used to enjoy reading horror stories but somehow they don't appeal now. I remember when I was still in school and at home one evening by myself and had just finished reading Frankenstein that I was suddenly aware of small noises and the house creaking etc. I really freaked myself out and had to telephone a friend just to get back in touch with reality. Also, the radio was a great way of "enjoying" spooky things - Appointment with Fear (a Brit weekly broadcast) was a big favourite but only listening with other folks around. Don't much care for scaring myself now, too many other real things to do that for me. momac

I read Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman in '94 while we drove cross country for four or five days. Book as means of escape from pestering family members.

I read The Terror by Dan Simmons in Depoe Bay, Oregon a couple years ago while we lounged in a friend's timeshare condo on the ocean. That was a good vacation.

A lot of good memories....

1.)Read The Corrections at a lakehouse during a few 90 degree days in the shade.

2.)Read Angels and Demons between and during two connecting slingshot flights from Omaha-Dallas-Chicago.

3.)Read Animal Farm when I was a fifth grader in one sitting, absolutely loved it.

4.)Read Noam Chomsky's Year 501 during a cold december weekend, sipping hot cider and watching MSNBC. Life was good in college.

Could post more, but these are just a few that come to mind quickly.

I'm not certain what is worse, the listing of the measurement requirements and other architectural details of the ark of the covenant, or the list of genealogy of the various tribes and/or Christ.

Both are worse. :lol: But they only have to be done once; God is merciful. :innocent:
