Edmund Cooper: All Fools Day

I am half way through and it is pretty gripping.
It starts with unusual sunspot activity and then something totally unexpected and cataclysmic begins to happen.
To tell you more would ruin the suspense.
Based on what I have read so far it is looking like a 9+ score and I recommend it to anyone.
The writing style is rather loose and certainly easy to go through quickly.

I just read a summary and the story sounds very dismal....but interesting. Am interested to see how you feel about it once you've finished. It's on my "curious about" list now. :)

The first review on Amazon U.S. says it can stand up to The Day of the Triffids.....that's good enough for me. Triffids is one of my all time favorites. :)

It has some passages which are like prose and very accomplished.
The part of it I don't like is the dialogue, some of what the characters say, shocks me slightly.
I am now three quartes the way through it and am interested to see how it ends. For me, this means the book has worked on that level at least.
I find it more modern, that Triffids.
