Here's an idea for a simpsons episode
the Simpson's are having money problems, and homer enters a bunch of contests
the Simpsons win a lifetime supply of macaroni and cheese, Homer says "See what a good provider I am?"
the cheese attracts a bunch of rats, and the Simpsons can't afford extermination, and have to live with them
Lisa makes a macaroni necklace for Marge and one for Homer
Marge takes her regular necklace off an leaves it lying on the table. While she's doing the dishes one of the rats takes it and scurries into a rat hole.
While Homer is at work, he is wearing his necklace, and he is proud of his daughter's thoughtful gift.
At lunch time, Homer finds out Marge has forgotten to pack his lunch. He tries the vending machine, but he spends his last change on a snack that gets caught, and he can't reach it through the door of the vending machine.
Homer is so hungry he tries to eat one of the macaroni on his necklace, but he hurts his tooth.
Homer goes to the dentist, who says his tooth has to be removed, and Homer has to get a fake tooth. Homer asks to keep the original tooth, saying his family needs all the money they can get, even tooth fairy money.
That night, Homer puts the tooth under his pillow, and before he goes to sleep he starts to pray to the tooth fairy, asking her for extra money. A rat steals the tooth while Homer's head is bowed in prayer, and when Homer finds out the tooth is gone, he yells to Marge that the tooth fairy ripped him off.
Marge tells Homer "It's the rats, they've been stealing from us!"
Homer goes downstairs furious and reaches into the rat hole, and he gets a handful of treasure that was hidden in the wall.
Grandpa Simpson comes in and says, "Well done boy, you've found my treasure from wwII! I'd forgotten all about it!"
points of outline
...in this episode outline, the macaroni causes the problem of the rats, and Lisa's macaroni necklaces eventually lead Homer to search the rat hole, where he finds the treasure that will let them deal with the rats, so the macaroni has a double effect to cause and solve the rat problem.
...In both cases the necklaces cause replacement of the item stolen before it is stolen. Marge's real necklace is replaced directly by the macaroni necklace, but Homer's necklace causes his tooth to be damaged and replaced by another tooth.
