Has anyone heard about this?
The film is supposed to come out next year, and I must say I'm very much looking forward to it, I can't wait to see how it turns out as a movie. :D

ya since like 2004 or something they said something about it, I dunno it was a long time ago lol

I hope they do Eldest too :p

There is a website for the movie now here http://www.eragonmovie.com not very much on it yet though.

It seems that the film has been cast now though...

Guillory Joins Ed Speleers and Djimon Hounsou for "Eragon"
Sienna Guillory will star as the warrior heroine Arya in the movie version of Christopher Paolini's novel, "Eragon."
Guillory ("Love Actually") joins newcomer Ed Speleers (as Eragon), Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich in the big screen adaptation of Paolini's best-seller. The story follows Eragon as he battles an evil king to determine the fate of the empire.

"Eragon" began shooting this month. Visual effects supervisor Stefen Fangmeier makes his directorial debut with the fantasy pic.

My son is just so excited about seeing it ... someday!

I'm just thinking about this Paolini chap - he's so young and has a movie deal.

I'm in the wrong line of work...

lol well if you wan't to get technical Dakota Fanning also makes good money and she's younger...and how about those Olsen twins? (when they were kids) ;)

I guess it all depends on talent or luck or both :p

All Dakota Fanning has to do is to act young and giddy and cute and she's winning awards. That's easy. This Paolini guy actually wrote a brick-worth of words, got it published, and actually secured a film deal. Much more difficult than acting.

I don't know about the book - it sounds like something I won't like, so I don't think I'll pick it up - but irregardless of whether the book's good or not, he has published one at his age. Colour me impressed.

I've read both books in this Inheritance Trilogy. I liked them both greatly, so I'm looking forward to the movie.

Only for discussing how a book was adapted to a film. This is just to highlight there's a trailer available. You can't tell from this how the book has been adapted therefore you can't discuss the success of the adaptation, making the Film forum the appropriate area. ;)

I can't wait for this movie to come out, I loved the book!
Although I was worried about how Sapphira was going to look and I must say I'm very impressed. :)

i was worried about that, too. that was why the trailer was so delayed (was supposed to be unveiled in august). they wanted saphira to be perfect. i think they spent something like a third of their budget just on her creation (and it is one reason why the urgals aren't quite what i thought they would be). but, i would rather have a superb saphira anyways. she is the star of the show. i wonder who is doing her voice!

One thing I am worried about for the film is that it will be aimed only for teenage boys and the battle scenes will take precedence over everything else. I loved the scenes in the book where Eragon first talks to Saphira and the talks with Brom. I just hope that the film has an equal balance of action and....non-action....I can't think of a good word
Saphira looks great though-better than I expected.

i agree wholeheartedly on each and every point you make. i think seeing the development of all of the relationships is important. i want to see the storyteller unfold into the rider he was, too, which it looks like they have included. i know they cast jeod, so i assume that scene is there. and angela is cast, but not sure about solembum, so hope they don't miss out on that part of the story.

saphira looks great. whoever does her voice needs to have a rich, powerful, yet sweet voice. someone one mentioned cate blanchett. she might be good. she must be young, but have wisdom in her voice. it'll be interesting. i have found no spoilers yet to indicate who they have for her voice.

i always felt the relationship scenes in the books were much more developed than the battle scenes, but i think that is because he is a boy (the writer) and has no experience in a battle to truly represent what it is like, other than reading about them time after time. tolkien does an amazing job with battle scenes, because he has been in the heart of horrible battles and true evil.

Hmm, well. I haven't read the book, but I did see a HUGE billboard for it in NYC this weekend. It seems to be coming out in less than a month. I'm surprised it hasn't been promoted more. I can't say that I'll be in line to see it at the theatre, but perhaps I'll pick it up on DVD. I always liked dragons.
